Default Just want to say that I was wrong in saying that the episode-"A place to die" was a

bad episode. After watching this episode in full length, there are very funny moments. Michael and the Old man doing the Hustle, J.J waking up and saying good morning to Mr. Hubert and when he didn;t respond, J.J yelled-"MOM"-lol The old man flirting with Willona, Family dancing before he died, especially Florida. So i take back everything I said about this episode. It was very good except for the last 5 seconds but overall i give it a B

it's an okay episode, not one of my favorites. You know, when I seen this episode in its first run, I thought that people really die instantaneously like that old man. Obviously I know better now. It can be a scary thing for a young person to see, thinking that one can die just that fast.

Well, I'll tell you. I saw this episode for the first time 20 years ago when I was about seven. I think for me, Good Times should have had a "parental guidance logo" when it was in reruns back in 84' on my local station and WGN 9. It was really disturbing for me and scary. This episode was extremely scary for me along with Debbie Allen shooting up in Thelma's room and the drunk country cousin. I watched this episode recently aired on TV Land and still got some chills. Whew!

You're quite right. My father died of a massive heart attack. He said he wasn't feeling well, sat down at the dining room table and just slumped over. The paramedics said he was dead before he even hit the floor it was so bad.
It can happen VERY quickly. But to me, that's the good way to go.

To me, the old man couldn't have passed on any better.

Well, my assumption is when one has been told they are going to die within weeks or days (i should have clarified myself better; i am not referring to something like a heart attack or brain anuerysm (sp?), not something that you didn't know existed) I am referring to just plain ol dying where you are expecting it and it may come within days or weeks. People who have days or weeks to live GENERALLY lose their appetites, are weak, can't get around, they start to slur their words and are incoherent eventually. I know, my father was diagnosed with liver cancer last August and was told he would live at the most 4 weeks. It ended up being 2 weeks and it took it's toll on him. I even told the hospice nurse, how will we know he is dying? She told me the above. I asked her if it's like in the movies or on t.v. when it just happens. Will he say something and then just die? She told me, it's never like on t.v. or in the movies. When someone has days to live, you will see them deteriorate slowly. If the old man in this episode died suddenly, I am going to assume he died of a heart attack or something like that. But he said he was told he only had a short amt. of time to live, so I am assuming he had a terminal illness like cancer or something. I hope I clarified myself. Didn't mean to imply that ALL PEOPLE die the same way. I was only referring to those like I said above.

Yeah - you're right - its true - my mom stopped eating and things started to shut down like she knew it was time.

That's true - he did come to the door saying he was going to die, yet if not ate, he had a drink at the party.

Sorry about your dad btw.

You are so nice Tripper...thanx...I miss him terribly but I know he is in a much better place...he is with my mom, my brother and my nephew.
As for the storyline, that's what I meant to say, it was my fault, I didn't explain it better.
And I am sorry for your father. I feel for you. Especially since he passed away so suddenly. I am so grateful that I had two weeks with my dad to be able to say all the things I wanted to say. Alot of us don't get that chance, but I was so blessed to have that opportunity and be by his side when he finally passed on.

PLEASE EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!! Let's get off the Topic of Death and stick to the Discussion of the Episode. If I want to talk about death I can call my mother, since that seems to be her favorite topic-lol But seriously, let's get away from the death topic.
