Do you prefer to buy DVD's online or just go to the stores and buy them? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

It's makes more sense to me to buy it at the store. Especially when talking about NEW RELEASES. Why order a new release online when you can just but it at the store? I think that's lazy but that's just me. Now when it comes to Jeffersons season 1 which is no longer in the stores, that's when you are supposed to order online not when something is just released. Anyone prefer buying DVD's from the store?

Ordering online isn't lazy, it's convenient. Especially when certain stores won't stock certain less popular titles (like That's My Mama). But I prefer stores. One reason is that I get to see the package when I buy it. I ordered something online recently and the box was slightly creased. I prefer having everything in perfect condition, and you're taking a chance with online deliveries. Plus I like to have stuff the day it comes out.

I just bought Jeffersons season one instore at a Suncoast in the Manhattan Mall in NYC just the other day, so it is still available in stores. As long as follow-up releases follow the first, stores generally like stocking all the seasons together if they can to make profit, IMO.

Anyway, I cant order online unless my dad orders it for me, so I prefer storebought discs, although online is where the deals are. I want to get a Wal-mart gift card or something to make it more convenient though.

Philadelphia has everything too--I actually found a couple long-OOP Paul McCartney CDs in a Tower Records.

I buy based on the price. If Amazon has the cheapest price, I can wait a few days for it to ship. If it's cheaper at a store I'll get it there.

the majority of shows I get for free, so I get them online, sometimes before street.

With most shows I buy, I will just go and buy them at Best Buy or Target or whatever if it's on sale first week. Like I will likely buy Seinfeld season 5 the day it comes out at the store.

However, for a "can't miss price", I will buy online. I have an Amazon gift-card, so I think I'm going to just order the Buffy complete series box set on Amazon for $124.99 because I am sure I will not find it that inexpensive in the stores.

He does reviews for a website...same one barwars is also a reviewer at. Not sure of the website though.

I agree with that, when you buy a DVD in the store, you get the pick of the litter about which box you want (like you, I am pretty anal about boxes having creases, etc...) while ordering online, you get what they send you. Luckily I haven't really had any horror stories of yet even though the box of Charmed season 1 wasn't exactly in the best shape when I got that DVD to review from Paramount.
