TVgameshows.net to Cease as Daily Service in November

GLENDALE, Cal.----Nine and one-half years, 300 contestant interviews, more than 30 conversations with legends and nearly 40,000 stories.

A journey which began as The Game Show Convention Center and expanded into a daily wire service in the summer of 1999 is about to ring down the curtain.

TVgameshows.net will end as a daily online newspaper Thanksgiving Eve with coverage of the finale of the Jeopardy! 2005 College Championship from Raleigh, N.C.

Webmaster Steve Beverly made the announcement at the close of the annual State of the Games address Saturday night at Game Show Congress 4 in Glendale.

"Thank you for your support and giving me the opportunity and encouragement to do what I have done these past nine and a half years," Beverly said. "Your comments and evaluation---both pro and con---have meant much to me.....but your friendships have meant much, much more.

Why bring TVgameshows.net in its current form to an end? "I knew it would have to happen sometime," Beverly said. "The fact is, I am absolutely exhausted. People who have never attempted something as ambitious as this on a daily basis cannot comprehend the toll it eventually takes. I am just tired and I badly need a break and a rest."

Beverly will spend the next few months evaluating an alternative format, perhaps along the lines of a weekly magazine that maintains the presence of TVgameshows.net but reduces the intense demands of daily reporting.

"I'm not going to go totally away," he said. "I just have to reduce the load with every other responsibility I have on me and this is the time to do that. I'll be continuing as an active board member of Game Show Congress. We have too many legends to honor and not enough time to do it."

I don't recall when I first discovered the site, probably around 2000, or 2001 and it's been worth the read but the problem is that certain links on the sides of the page are broken and haven't been fixed for at least two years. Hate to see it go, it was one hell of a site if you're a die-hard game show fan like me.

That was sad news. I love TVgameshows.net, because it is still my favorite online newsletter for game shows.
