In the pilot episode Willis was determined that him and Arnold go back to Harlem. If they had where would they have gone to? Who would they have stayed with? I think Willis was being stupid.

I also find it very stupid that they had no relatives! Cousin Mrytle Waters (the Moocher) aka Aunt Esther from Detroit was the only relative they had?

Maybe some of their other relatives were worse off than they were.
