I really loved NewsRadio. It was so heart-warming and funny. I'll never understand why well-written, well-acted, intelligent, and truly funny shows like NewsRadio and Wings never get any respect or attention while boring crap like Friends gets all the hype.

NewsRadio was a great show. The show never got the attention it deserved. One example of that was when Phil Hartman finally got an Emmy nomination in 1998. He had been giving a terrific performance as Bill McNeal for over 3 years and it took his death to get him nominated. And he still lost to David Hyde Pierce.
I sort of like Friends. It's not as good as NewsRadio, but it's a good show. There was one storyline on Friends that I think was stolen from NR. Chandler and Monica were a couple but they didn't want anyone else to know. Sort of sounds like the running Dave and Lisa storyline from season 1 to sometime in season 2. Thank God the NR writers were smart enough not to have Dave and Lisa get engaged or married. |
