This page contains a long, detailed and interesting article pertaining to "The Jai Alai Murders" which were covered on the very first episode of UM back in 1987. I would reprint the article here but there are also some graphics that are worth seeing and just the format of the article is so good I figure you'd like to see it as it is. A few things: It is amazing that the murder of Roger Wheeler which started the whole trail of murder was facilitated by FBI agent H. Paul Rico who in my opinion is just as horrible as any of the Irish Mafia croneys he ran with. Also it is interesting that back in 1987 (several years prior to the case being cracked open with allegations of the Irish Mafia being in cahoots with the FBI and therefore "The Jai Alai Murders" being covered up by that same agency to protect the Mafiosos involved) fingered the suspect who actually was the trigger man in the Wheeler murder (although at the time they only said he was "a person of interest": John Vincent Martorano (UM gets the scoop on everything don't they) Equally interesting is the letter that Roger Wheeler's son David who was interviewed in the segment wrote years later pleading for Martorano's release due to the fact that it was through his aide that a "greater evil" was stopped. Later. |
