Oh No Dumb Names Given To Children By Their Parents

Here are some really dumb names given to children. Give them back, kids!

Moon Unit Zappa (daughter of Frank Zappa)

Dweezil Zappa (son of Fran Zappa)

Chastity Bono and Elijah Blue Allman (daughter and son of Cher)

Free Hershey-Carradine (child - I forget the gender - of Barbara Hershey and David Carradine)

China Kantner (daughter of Paul Kanter and Grace Slick)

Zowie Bowie (son of David Bowie)

Sean John Combs ("Sean" is Irish for "John," so his mom unwittingly named him "John John!")

Zip-a-Dee-Doo Daub (son of Betty and Vernon Daub, a New Mexico couple profiled by People magazine a long time ago)

Brooklyn Sudano (daughter of Donna Summer)

Hazel and Phinneaus Moder (twin children of Julia Roberts, whose choice of names indicated, accoridng to Jon Stewart, that Roberts doesn't like children!)

Apple Martin (daughter of Gweneth Paltrow)

all girls named Madison (because their dads once had a crush on Darryl Hannah!)

Soccer star David Beckham gave his kids weird names, but I can't remember them.

And don't forget Coco Cox-Arcquette (sp?). It might work with another surname, but not Cox or Arcquette

I agree, those names are terrible. That's celebrities for ya. My husband wants to name our son Dashiell and call him Dash which is just as bad as all those other names imo. I prefer just plain ordinary classic names over these pretentious ones people are giving their kids today.

He has 3 sons, and their names are Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz. I actually like the name Brooklyn for some reason but I wouldn't call a child that.

Brooklyn sounds so girly. I can't see why someone would want to name their son that.

Yeah, I knew a woman who named her girl Brooklyn. I hate it for either sex. Not bashing Brooklyn, but it isn't the nicest suburb of NY - what's next - calling your kids "The Bronx" or "Hell's Kitchen"??

Rachel Griffith, the actress from Six Feet Under named her son Banjo.

Here is my solution to this naming problem that parents seem to have, and I should know because I am the product of a parent who thought she was being clever and original by naming me with a name that is hard to remember but and male name, parents should give their child a temporary name until the child reaches school age, and then sit down with the child and explain that the name was given as a temporary name, and that the child has the chance to pick their own name. Again just a suggestion from someone who was stuck with a name she hates.

here's another one

Angelina Jolie named her son Maddox. When I saw this name for the very first time in a magazine article I read it quite quickly and thought it said Tampax.

In the early 60s, a whole lot of little girls became "Sandra Dee" when that actress was popular, but, the worst name for a female I ever heard was a large woman on the Price is Right named...wait for it....ARTHURETTE
