Here are some uncanny things David Crosby and Lenny Kravitz have in common:
Both are Hollywood kids. Crosby's father was cimenatographer; Kravitz's mother played Helen Willis on "The Jeffersons." Both were in their early thirties when their mothers died. ![]() Both have done heavy drugs. Both of them have had several girlfriends, sometimes more than one at a time. Crosby sings about peace and love; Kravitz titled his first album Let Love Rule. A reviewer once wrote that Kravitz takes the advice of the Crosby song "Almost Cut My Hair" by letting his freak flag fly. Kravitz has used an alias when getting a motel room with his girlfriend, which Neneh Cherry referred to in one of her songs; Crosby titled his first solo album If I Could Only Remember My Name. Both Crosby and Kravitz are routinely slammed by rock critics looking for easy targets.

You hear that sort of thing in a lot of places. That's not my milieu. Rock and roll is good-time music. I love rock. So did my parents. |
