So here's the odd little situation. I had this friend in HS that had a huge crush on me, but I was a bitch, something I totally regret. So after I graduated and lost touch with him, I always wondered where he was cuz my stupid conscious was bugging me. Well, as far as I knew, he'd fallen off the planet, but one day, completely and totally by accident, I actually found him and his email address. So I thought I'd email just to see if he remembered me and to say hi. He wrote back and yeah he remembered me and to write back or call if I wanted. He actually said call. Go figure. Anyway, we emailed once more and he told me he'd been in FLA for 5 years. In my last email I asked him what took him down there...and then I never heard back. It was around finals time, so I just assumed he was swamped. But it's been 4 months now. I've been slow to respond to emails too, but 4 months? Anyway, I was just curious what others would do...I thought about emailing again cuz maybe it just got lost in his inbox or something. But then I keep thinking, maybe he was like, "What the hell is this girl bugging me for??" so maybe I should just forget it.
I need an email ettiquite book. |

I'd say maybe email him again. It's possible, as you say, he was really busy and so didn't have time to respond at the time, and maybe he's just forgotten about your email. You could email him again and maybe call him, if the emailing starts again.

It's also possible that he didn't want to be bothered anymore. Someone had to say it. It doesn't take that long to reply to an e-mail. It's also rare that an e-mail "gets lost". I mean, yeah, some personal e-mails get put in the "spam" category but not that often.
Anyway, it depends. He might take it as you being a little obsessive. I'd drop it, but that's just me. |

Maybe he didn't get it.

Go ahead, send another E-mail.
I know some people that take forever to answer e-mails, that is if they even bother to check their e-mail. He could have been busy, or had computer problems. If he doesn't respond after this e-mail, then forget it and move on. Or you could send a private detective to Florida to track his a$$ down. I know a guy, send me a PM if you're interested...

Yeah, I would email him a "hey, how have you been doing?"-type of email. I've actually had that happen where I wonder "Why haven't I heard from this person?" He might have never received your email. It's happened where some emails never get delivered for some reason. Or, he may have been meaning to write you, and his Inbox was cluttered and deleted junk mail and accidentally deleted your email. I would say just try it.

I would email him again but don't bring up the 'WHY' you never replied to the email I sent you 4 months ago. If he doesn't reply, it's his loss.

I would e:mail him again. Keep it upbeat and short. Drop him a couple of lines about what you've been up to, and tell him that you hope he's having a great summer. I wouldn't ask any questions. Rarely do I ask someone questions in an e:mail, unless I'm in regular contact with them. Otherwise, it feels like I'm cornering them.
Good luck and let us know what you decide and how it turns out.

I hate when guys act like that. If he doesn't want to be bothered he should be a man and tell you that. I dated this guy a few years ago who acted like he was interested in me for 3 months, spent all this money taking me out to dinner, to movies etc.. and then I find out he didn't like me at all. He just didn't want to hurt my feelings and was too much of a wuss to just tell me he wanted to break it off.
Anyway if I were you I would call him and ask what's going on. If you don't have his phone # than E-Mail him. If he doesn't respond, forget about him. The time you are wasting on this guy can be spent meeting new people. Good Luck. |

I know if I get bogged down, I can and do let e-mails go completely unnoticed for weeks or months on end - not even knowing that someone e-mailed the thing to me....then, one day, I'll be cleaning out my inbox (I may have 2GB+ of storage, but I still prefer to delete unimportant things every few months), and there it is, marked as unread.

Cathy, I would send him at least one more email, maybe even call him. There have been times that I have sent emails and for some strange reason the person I sent them to never got them. So that could be what happened with your friend. Good luck.

definately either send him another email or just call him
i recently found an unread email from an old friend that had been buried in an older account I dont use often (she had my addy in her list and sent out a mass email to everyone in her contacts accidentally) - it had been in there for over a YEAR, i hadn't seen or talked to this person in a good 5 years, so I emailed back and we caught up on some old times and still keep in contact occasionally

I thought too about sending out, like, a mass email to a bunch of friends that I haven't talked to/heard from in months/years just to say hey, I'm alive, are you. lol Even though I hate mass emails really. Put him in there, that way it wouldn't be too personal.
