I checked out for myself and found if you type in your search engine: MS Script Control Unknown Error, you will find many links to possible answers. I wish I could tell you exactly what you need to do, but you need to check various things. When I have received an error message I always type whatever message i receive in my aol search engine and i get lots of links that help me out. Sorry, wish i could assist you better.

There are MANY things that could be causing this, more information would be helpful, but lets try anyways,
first though, does this error come up as soon as you get to the desktop when you startup, or does it happen when you are doing somethiing?

of those two files, one is part of MSN or Outlook, and the other is security-related; it could be a missing or corrupted file - or it could be something nasty in there i would try to see if we can find anything suspicious in there and remove it, then if nothing shows up you could try to replace that file or reinstall Internet Explorer... |

well, congrats on having a clean system Angela - i dont see anything in there that looks wrong,
...as for that popup - that MSNAPPAU.exe file is the Automatic Updating service that is installed with the MSN Toolbar, and for some reason it can't connect whenever it tries to update - this could be due to a corrupt or missing file or a problem with the MSN Toolbar I would honestly suggest you either uninstall the MSN Toolbar or disable the updater service - and because it is a MS service, you can't simply disable it in MSCONFIG or other similar means, you have to completely remove the service. Your best bet would be to stop the service (press CTRL-ALT-DEL and click on the Processes tab, then right-click on the MSNAPPAU.exe process and click on End Process) then search for it with the Find Files or Folders on the Start menu (make sure you can see hidden and system files), then RENAME the MSNAPPAU.exe file so that it can't start. If you MUST have the MSN toolbar, I would suggest you uninstall it, then go to the Windows update site and do any necessary updates, esp anything related to Internet Explorer, then reinstall the MSN Toolbar. |
