Default Rodney Allen Ripple

In two episodes of Good Times, when a Shirley Temple was ordered in a restaurant or bar, someone makes a comment saying it should be called a Rodney Allen Ripple. I don't get the joke?

Who's Rodney Allen and what is ripple made of???

Rodney Allen Rippy was a big commercial star in the early '70's. He made a famous commercial for Jack in the Box restaurant.

Whatever ever happened to that kid? He would've been good in the Diff'rent Strokes part of Arnold, too bad Rodney was too old for the part.

Could have been, I know something Similar happened with the Jeffersons. When Michael was reading the Ebony Magazine with the Jeffersons on the Front cover, that was a January 1976 Issue of Ebony and that episode of Good Times was aired in January of 76.

I brought this up in another thread from about a year or so ago, that I noticed that Ja'net Dubois was on the cover of an Ebony magazine in a GT episode.

She was never on the cover, she was in the inside.

Your question about Rodney Allen has been answered. As far as ripple, it is a cheap wine, like Manachevitz. Fred Sanford always had ripple

Thanks for the tid bit Zions Mother, I always wondered what drunk cousin Naomi meant when she said, "For Sammy Davis Jr.'s birthday it's Man-O-Manachevitz. Never heard of that before.
