This new sitcom is about a family who have their own family business (a jewelry store called Devereaux Jewelry ) in their hometown of Grace Falls, Connecticut. The family consists of the patriarch, matriarch, and their three daughters---and their husbands and kids. Jack Devereaux (Ed Asner) is the head of the family, and his father opened up the jewelry store back in 1945. After Jack's dad retired, he left the store to Jack and his wife, Marge (Olympia Dukakis) to run. Now, 45 years later, Jack and Marge's three daughters: Pam (Markie Post), Kate (Katey Sagal), and Jane (Jean Smart) are working at the family-owned and run by family jewelry store. Jack and Marge help out part-time, as Pam, Kate, and Jane are there full-time. Pam is the oldest daughter at age 47. Pam is a happily married mom of two grown kids (22, 25). Kate is the middle daughter at age 45. Kate is a mom of two (15, 17), whose marriage "is slowly being flushed down the drain". Jane is the youngest daughter at age 44. Jane is a happily married mom of three young teenage kids (11, 13, 14). Pam, Kate, and Jane may be sisters, yet they are not exactly alike in most ways, and each have their own way of doing things at work (sometimes not caring if it annoys her two siblings).
