Default Sin City

I saw the trailer for Sin City at the theater a few months back. It looks wild. I rented it for tonight. Has anyone seen it? RottenTomatoes.com gave it a 78%, a very high rating.

The movie stars everyone and their mother.

I have not yet seen it, but my friend who is a movie critic where I work said it is visually brilliant. He said some parts of the story don't hold up, but overall an entertaining movie.

Visually brilliant, yes. But it wasn't all that great of a film. Here's my semi-review of the movie, but it's more about the DVD than the film itself....

Haven't seen it yet. It's on the blockbuster.com list though.

i dont get what a guest director would do-wouldnt he just be a director? and if he didnt have total director control wouldnt he just be co-director?

I haven't seen it either, but it is supposed to be a few interconnecting stories, so I assume he directed one of them.

He directed one scene, although I'm unsure which one.

That's a great review! Very well written. I agree with everything you wrote.

It's really not my kind of movie either because I have a hard time watching violence. The violence in Sin City, although gory and plentiful, is watchable as it's done with what the critics now call 'stylized violence'. Kill Bill employed this technique as well. It's sort of like a comic strip.

I recommend this movie. The characters and the plots were waaaay out there, but if you suspend disbelief, it's a lot of fun.

The movie is visually stunning.

Thanks. I liked both Kill Bill movies a lot, but Sin City might have been just a little too out there for me to fully enjoy.

I love Sin City. Its my favorite movie so far this year. Its just visually great and its different from anything ever done. Its just got a very big 'cool' factor to it.

NOW I come across this thread!

Frank was hounding me about it two nights ago - "any reviews on Sin City on SO?" I couldn't find anything on it.

He's watching it in the home theatre room right now as I post this. Sure SOUNDS visually stunning if you know what I mean. The dishes are rattling in the kitchen.
