Yeah, you're English is fine! Get the dvd's! If anything, I'm sure it will help you with your English. If you can understand David and Maddie banter, you can understand anything! I can't think of a better way to brush up on your language skills!

Couldn't agree more, Gem, a way to learn a foreign language (English is this case) is to watch the original movie/show or read an English book. Living in an English speaking country is the best way to learn the language but oh well, it's not exactly cheap either
![]() I remember how my brother's girlfriend used to say I would never watch the English version of a movie if I can have the German version, I'm kind of weird in that matter, I usually prefer the original, she said my English is pretty bad and why watch the English version when I can have the German version where I understand everything...makes sense . I guess that's what cherrypicker is talking about, if you don't get the plot or some very important lines you miss the whole fun..sometimes when shows or movies get dubbed things get changed, other characters/names are used because you would not know the ones used in the original version in your country... BTW, nice new icon, Gem |

hi everyone, and thank you for welcoming me!
![]() i agree with gipsygem and bsd that movies/shows in original version a great way to improve language skills, and i usually prefer watching original versions with subtitles, it's just that i don't know if i would be able to do without them.... |

first of all... welcome cherrypicker!
i haven't been around here for some time (too much to study... ) so i've just read this thread...i wouldn't like to be a killjoy (is that the word? ), but now that i've watched many eps in o.v. i find some dialogues terribly difficult (at least for me), with lots of american vocabulary, set phrases and colloquial expressions, so i don't get the real meaning of many of them, and most of all i think the arguments david and maddie have and where they talk to each other (hm... or should i say "yell at each other"? ) at te same time are impossible to understand !i'll have to be content with Spanish version... :/ |

In the meantime, no matter what language you speak, the chemistry/attraction between Bruce/David and Cybil/Maddiel comes shining through, doesn't it?

I might just try to watch an episode on the DVD without sound and see what I find! You're SO right that the chemistry just shines through between those two!!
