I had to ask my Mom Tonight why did J.J always mention the BIG MAC from Mcdonald's and she told me it was because at the time Good Times premiered on CBS in the mid 70's, BIG MAC was brand New and no one had never seen a Burger like that. J.J always talked about a nasty A$$ Big Mac-lol

That and the fact that the name evoked a specific hamburger. If he had said hamburger, or double cheeseburger, it could have been any fast food place. Saying Big Mac, everyone would know what that was. Even to this day. Now, in reruns some of these shows mention things that only mean something if you were around during that time. For example, James always says Willona is the "Rona Barrett of the projects". My kids don't know who Rona Barrett is or what she did. If you are from the 70's, you will know who she is.

Yup I didn't know who Rona Barret was either. I kept saying-"who the hell is Rona Barrett?-lol I also asked my Mom about Cadillac's in mid 70's because J.J always mentioned Cadillac's too. And she said almost every Guy she knew had a CADILLAC in the mid 70's. |
