Default They should've been fired.

I haven't seen this show in years, but two episodes stand out in my mind as not making a whole lot of sense. One was a Thanksgiving episode where Mel brought some live turkeys he was going to prepare. Vera sets them all free. I don't recall Mel getting too pissed. That didn't seem to fit his part. Secondly, Vera should have been fired. I know she was part of the show, but they should have written something better than her setting them free.

The second was a New Years episode where Mel keeps the diner open late because Flo is dateless. Flo announces that everything being served is free. What kind of idiot boss would tolerate that? Was Flo going to be working for free as well as covering food and operating costs? She should've been fired.

I am sure Alice, Jolene and that other blonde waitress committed fireable offenses, but it's been a while since I've seen the show.

I couldn't stand Jolene. Once in a great while she was maybe ok. Flo was THEE part that couldn't be replaced. And yet, who played FLO in the movie "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore"? The actress that ended up replacing Flo (Belle).

Flo was Alice. When I say that, I mean she was the real star of the show.

You've got that right - the show wouldn't have lasted its first season without her.

Flo was not very pretty. What got me was that the waitresses were not much to look at.

And you would think the lame characters that replaced Flo could have at least looked like baywatch babes to cover up for the fact that they just came accross as stupid rednecks.

LOL I hear my brother now, who had and has a crush on Miss Holliday...

It was NICE to see her in more recurring roles in the later years after Alice too...

Attractive....yep, I think so too...strawberry hair and every diner guests DREAM DATE as long as you weren't female...
