Default Do/did you have that one best friend?

This is kind of like a question/rant thread. Do you have like that one true friend or do you just have like a group of friends that aren't really that close? As far as friends in life I never really have a best friend. Ii have friends but they are just like aquaintances that aren't really friends you know? I would much rather have like one good friend than a group of friends that changes every week. It's a lot less lonely that way. Cause you could really trust that person. Sometimes I feel like the only person who doesn't have that.

I have one best friend who I can tell anything to and feel a close relation with-- she and I relate on so many levels. However, there are a few other girls I hang out with(and have known since high school), who I can be silly and have fun with-- but we don't share the same deep bond. Either way, I love them all equally

I've never had a best friend. In middle and high school, I've had a couple of friends whom I treated as best friends ONLY because I never really had other friends. I guess they would be accounted as some FORM of friends because I still, once in a blue moon, keep in touch with them after high school.

I'm going through a dilemma right now. I've had a best friend since 7th grade. Now that we are older and I've changed a little, she doesn't bother to talk to me anymore. It pisses me off.

I HAD one. I had a falling out with her early on in high school and ignored her for the rest of our high school years. She was always bragging about how she'd be doing a lot better than me when we graduated, and now I can laugh in her face. Serves her right for being an ******* towards me.

I had one in grades five and six. We were together all the time. Once we got into middle school she started making a lot of friends and I kept becoming more and more withdrawn. We sort of drifted apart after that. She was the only person my age that I could fully be myself around. I miss having that.

yes, I have one really good close friend who I can trust with anything. We have also told each other our personal stuff or problems. When we became friends when we were 13 we were like SO close knit and inseparable! We lived 3 hours away from each other and wrote like every day to each other and called each other every weekend. We're still good friends today but we're not like totally close knit and hang out all the time like we used too. I have other good friends too, but she will always be the closest most true friend to me!

You're not alone. I don't have that either. I never have, now that I think about it...I just throught I did. She pretty much dumped me to hang out with better people in 8th grade, but it started as young as 6th. I blame a lot of my being miserable today on that. I have friends but I don't feel close to them at all.

I did, from around third grade to tenth grade. We did a lot together, then he started thinking he was better than the school and the people in it and when he moved I can't say I was all that said. Eleventh grade, the first year of school I've gone through without him in at least one of my classes was my absolute favorite year of school so far. I've gotten closer to a lot of other friends who earlier in high school were just casual acquaintances. I've gotten to know my other friends a lot better too. Don't get me wrong, my friends are my favorite people in the world, but you should never spend all your time with basically one person. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing.

Anyways, I never did like the term "best friend", to me at least.... it always seemed that it meant that they were better than your other friends. "Closest friend" works and sounds much better IMO.
