That's it folks! After this past Friday night's airing of the final episode cliff-hanger, which we will never know the end of thanks to the jerks at ABC, 8 Simple Rules will never air again on ABC. I was pretty sad because I really thought the show was funny. I do not think CJ ruined the show and would have liked to see it continue. I can't wait to see the Ritter episodes though since I have only seen like a third of them. I wish another network would have the guts to pick up the show because it really deserves a second chance. Heck, Grounded for Life got new life when the WB picked it up, so why can't it happen for 8 Simple Rules? BTW is it just me or are these forums dead? They used to be the most active forums on these boards, but now that the show is cancelled, they don't get very many posts. Is anyone starting a serious peition to get this show back on the air? I hate how TV executives don't care about the fans and just do whatever they want. That's it for my rant? Anyone else ticked off about 8 Simple Rules like me? Season 3 was really funny and it should have went on, that's the bottom line!

8 Simple Rules is airing this Friday. "Freaky Friday" episode will air. After that, ABC will not air it anymore.

If they were going to go back to the ensemble format they seemed to be returning to in the last few episodes, I agree. If they were going to do 22 episodes of the David Spade Show in Season 4, that's not something I could get enthused about.

I hate how people call it "the David Spade Show"! CJ had a few episodes about his character, but so did everyone else! It's not like when Family Matters became "the Steve Urkel show". Everyone had their own storyline and CJ was used more as comic relief. I personally liked the chemistry between Grampa Jim and CJ and thought they were funny together. What really bugs me is that Less Than Perfect got picked up, which had like no fans, but 8 Simple Rules, which was popular with the covetted 18-49 demography didn't. That's just messed up! Seems like ABC is acting more like Fox with its headscratcing pick up and cancellations, while Fox is acting more like a good station with renewals of shows like Family Guy, Bernie Mac and Arrested Development. If it was any other year all those shows would have been canned. And if it was any other year 8 Simples rules would have been picked up along with My Wife and Kids.

I guess I will say this for the final time (sigh), I just don't understand how ABC could pick up shows like Less Than Perfect and Hope and Faith over 8SR. A totally dumb mistake by a dumb network. One final time, look at last Friday's ratings :
8 Simple Rules (HH: #2, 3.7/ 8; Viewers: #2, 5.70 million Hope & Faith (two episodes, HH: #2, 3.6/ 7; Viewers: #2, 5.54 million Less Than Perfect (HH: #2, 3.6/ 6; Viewers: #2, 5.22 million You tell me what show or shows should have gotten canceled, and which should have been picked up. ABC is a bunch of idiots. |

I think it's fair comment to say it was the David Spade Show during that period. Those of us who do that are just expressing our disapproval of how he and his people took over the show. To deny that is what happened is a denial of reality. |

Even though the ratings were high the show was going downhill. Maybe they didn't have a story line to go on.

I feel they did,but the producers couldn't handle having Katey as a main plot. They were too into david spade *pissed*

I was just starting to get in to this show when it was taken off of ABC
I have never seen the John Ritter episodes, although I am dying to-- I guess I'll have to wait 'til January. But it sucks that I was getting in to watching it every Friday night(almost like a routine for me) and then it was yanked away Well, I guess we'll just have to keep a countdown until we get to re-watch them all over again from Season 1 in January

i had no idea they canceled the show! i was going to watch it yesterday (friday) but i was at the mall and couldnt make it home in time. how did it end? what episode was on?! if john ritter was still on the show, it would have gone on for like 7 seasons like threes comapny. john jsut made everything better and funnier on the show. im not sayin the show got worse...im just saying it was better when john was on it. do you know what im saying..im not putting it down or anything. i still laughed at the show after he left us, but still..haha whatever..

The last episode that aired on ABC was called "Freaky Friday", where Bridget and Cate switch bodies(as well as Grandpa with C.J. and Rory with his pet hamster
) It was good. Yea, I agree with you that John makes everything more funny Although the show was quite good after him too. I just can't wait until January where they run the John episodes in syndication.Quote:
