Hi,
I recently obtained 7 hours of live ABC coverage of the Robert F. Kennedy assassination in June 1968. The coverage begins a few minutes before midnight on June 4. You see Kennedy's entire victory speech live at the Ambassador. After the speech, the network goes back to the anchorman for some brief commentary, and they are about to sign off the air when news of the shooting arrives. For several minutes you see a stationary shot of the newsroom and people are milling about, picking up phones etc. while elevator music plays and a voiceover occasionally says "please stand by for a special ABC news bulletin". Finally, the anchorman announces that Kennedy has been shot. It is very strange to watch. The coverage continues unedited for 8 hours with only one hour missing somewhere towards the end (tape must have run out or been recorded over). This is from New York affiliate W-ABC, and I have been told is the original broadcast. The quality is decent considering the age. Maybe an 8/10. E-mail if interested in obtaining this rare coverage. TRADES ONLY!!!! |
