I read on jumptheshark.com that Ann divorced Ed simply because she was "bored." The posters there were very critical in an unkind way towards Bonnie Franklin and the Ann Romano character. They all said Ms. Romano was a self-centered, selfish unthoughtful wife and mother for wanting to divorce because she was "bored."
Did she really get a divorce because she was bored? I thought it was because she married so young and had kids so young that she never got a chance to experience anything in life for herself hardly. When the girls got older she seeked the divorce. |

I think you're right. And I also think that she divorced him for her daughter's also so they could see that it is possible to make it without a man around. Also, in a clip that they showed in the reunion she told her daughters that she didn't want them to wind up like her with not really being on her own till she was past thirty. She had married very young and went straight from her dad's house to her husbands

I also got the impression that when she married Ed, she was a young and naive girl who kind of liked Ed's dominant personality and he made all the decisions in the marriage.
As she became a mother and got older, she started to want some independence of her own and started wanting to make decisions and they grew apart. |
