Guys,

It is interesting to note the different edits that are used depending on the version of the show that you are watching. The amount that is cut on average is about the same (2-3 minutes per episode) This is not only true with the Brady Bunch. But TV Land will often do different edits compared and contrasted to syndicated prints. (See our Brady Bunch Scenes/Episodes no loger aired for more details.)

Sometimes there will be a trade off of what is edited on the Brady Bunch depending on which version you are watching. For instance, The Impractical Joker, has two scenes of note:

1.) Myron getting loose in the master bedroom: On syndicated prints but cut from TV Land

2.) Greg and Mike teaching Myron to run the maze: Cut from syndicated prints, but restored on TV Land.

If you could take what is cut from syndication prints and TV Land's version, I would guess that you would have almost uncut episodes. Generally, I think that TV Land's versions are a little less choppy than syndication. However, my issue is more WHAT is being cut. When you look at the quality of the editing when you see the DVD uncut masters, sometimes the editors do an OK job of chopping out the unimportant stuff. (One or two unimportant lines) But when whole scenes are cut and dialogue doesn't make sense because of it, you have to look at, Wow! What were they smoking? (Keeping a sunset intact while cutting out a joke's punchline)

It's also strange on the Brady Bunch that the uncut DVD's show that based on what has been restored that some episodes are edited more severly than others. Three more seasons to go for Brady Bunch release and we will never have to watch edited Brady Bunch ever again!

I'm actually looking forward to watching seasons 4 and 5 the most. When Columbia House issued the 40 episodes back in the early 90s, they mostly took shows from seasons 1 - 3. So, I'm currently seeing the uncut episodes on DVD, that I've already owned from Columbia House. When season 4 comes along in November, I'll really be able to see some scenes I've never watched before.
