Default A Trip to The Moon

Do you think Maddie had an idea that was pregnant in this episode? I recently watched it and thought that might be the case. After she tells Agnes about her nervous breakdown, Maddie later goes into the bathroom in her office. When she comes out and sees david, Maddie's got a tissue (or something like it) by her mouth/face. Do you think she had morning sickness? For some reason that's the idea I got when I watched this episode. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks BTW, if this was the case, that would explain Maddie's odd behavior.

Hi dreams. I never thought of that but you could be right. I never really thought she knew at that point, but thought the reason she was feeling sad and emotional was the because she was pregnant and that was really why she took off to Chicago, not because she was trying to get away from David. You know, maybe she was feeling overly emotional and couldn't understand why so she felt that way so it must be her relationship with David. hmmm I have really rambled on here and don't know if I'm making any sense. But you could be right.

Hi Ryangie,

Thanks! I don't think you ramble on...when it comes to Moonlighting, I can talk for hours. There's just so much to cover with this show and it's very interesting to get views from other fans. It makes you look at episodes, or certain things within an episode, in a new way. It's really nice to get another perspective on things. So, I appreciate your feedback on Maddie's reasoning for leaving for Chicago. These certainly were new feelings for her. She never experienced pregnancy before, or that strong a feeling for another person before. Maddie is, afterall, a control freak. So, I guess I can understand why she left. Thanks again for the insight.

I definitely think the scene with Maddie coming out of her bathroom was meant to imply that she was already having morning sickness, although she might not have realized it yet. She must have started to have the early signs of pregnancy by then, but I don't think she could admit the possibility to herself. If she suspected it on some level, it probably scared her to realize she was looking at a more permament relationship with David, assuming he was the father.

I too have always believed that Maddie was exhibiting symptoms of pregnancy in this episode. I also believe she suspected as much at this point and that is one of the reason's she freaks out so much and leaves.

I always thought she was crying too. It never occured to me that way before, but that's really interesting. I'm just going to have to watch that episode again now, damnit! In fact, it seems really obvious now that you've said it and now that I think about it.

Hi everyone,

So glad I'm not alone in thinking Maddie was pregnant. That was the first time I had seen this ep in a LONG time. I wonder if I thought that then and just forgot...oh well. It was good to watch, but sad. Love whn Dave says he's in love w/ Maddie so everyone can hear. Equally as enjoyable is Maddie's reaction. She shows a glimmer of old vulnerable self. Then she gets a little weird at the laundromat

Hi Chelsea, if you get a chance you should watch Blonde on Blonde, Sam and Dave. She thinks it could be Sam's baby because she is with him before she and David finally get together in Im Curious Maddie. Hope this helped, not sure if this was what you were asking.

This is where it gets really murky for me and I struggle with the writing. In "Father Knows Last", Maddie tells her mother she doesn't know who the father is. I believe her because she has no reason to lie to her mother. In "Fetal Attraction", there's a really nice scene where she tells her parents she's ready to go home. Her mother asks if she's going to have the baby all by herself and she says, "I hope not." Since we don't get the impression she ever told Sam anything, I think that implies she hopes she'll be with David. She leaves Chicago acting like the old Maddie. But then she has those weird dreams on the train back to LA in "Tracks of My Tears" and we're supposed to believe that now she thinks the baby is Sam's and that she's confused enough to marry Walter just to save David?? It still makes no sense to me!!

Cool

I know its an old thread but i was watching this episode last night and something doesnt sit straight with me .In the bedroom scene in the morning when Maddie is asking David where the relationship is going through the bathroom door. David says " weve had this relationship for the past 3 - 3 and a half weeks , but then in the office scene later they are both referring to the time scale of how long they have been sleeping together as 4 weeks /1 month. Why did it change from 3 weeks to 4 weeks was that a writers error ?
By the way i love it when Maddie says to David "Who`d do you thinks been lying beside!,on top of you !,underneath this past month!" Even my other half likes that line and laughs when he hears it and he isnt really a fan .
