Default Lisa Whelchel spin-off mystery

OK, I'm sure I read somewhere that Lisa Whelchel said there were never no plans to have a Blair spinoff. I did find a FOL fansite that was supposed have production photos of the spinoff pilot or something, but the link didn't work when I clicked it. Did they try filming a show and Lisa Whelchel doesn't want to admit it didn't work out?

It's no mystery. THe pilot was actually the last 2 episodes of FOL> The series was going to have Blair as Headmistress of Eastland. Things fell through and it never went beyond the final episodes.

Maybe the photos that website had were ones from that episode when Blair took over the school. I know Lisa Whelchel said she really did not want to do another series. I think she was making plans anyway to get married as the show started getting close to ending.

At the time, she wanted to do the spin-off -- in fact, she sent letters to all the members of her fan club urging them to write NBC expressing their diasappointment that the show was not picked up for the fall '88 season. It was after the fact that she was glad the series didnt work out because she was able to be a full-time mom...

I think it would've been a bad idea if they were to make this spin-off
I'm glad they didn't!!!!

I think that it would have been too. It probably wouldn't have lasted very long because Lisa was going to be married and have kids so it would have been hard.

can anyone tell me if Blair was the only one seen in the LAST episode of FOL? That's usually how you can tell if a character is going to be spinned off if the others are nowhere to be seen and just one of the characters with new characters you never seen before

No the other cast was in the episode as well, but she was the main focus of it and had the most screen time.

Yeah, the final scene really sucked big time. I mean, they took a picture with everyone, but Natalie was in SoHo at the time.

Natalie had a small scene I believe over the phone, where Tuti was like "Where is it you are living at again?" and Nat is like "SoHo". Then Everyone takes a picture when Boner comes home in a chicken outfit. Yuck! I think Jo, Blair, Berverly Ann and Tuti were in the pic (Don't remember if Pipa and Andy were", but Boner took the pic, and Blair was like "My hair is a mess, no wait, Jo is here, I'll stand next to her." And those were the final lines (or a phrase simmilar to that.

Overall, it was an okay last episode, but it lacked one thing. NATALIE. No Nat. I hated how they had her move out before the last episode. I think the final scene should have been re-written in a way that Blair would be moving out, Jo would be moving out, Nat would be moving out, and Tuti would be moving out, and Beverly Ann, taking care of Pipa and Andy in the house that would be too big for them. That's how I would have ended it. I mean, at the beginning have Nat and Tuti start packing in Part 1, and by the beginning of Pt 2, have them sad, while Blair is dealing with her own problems, then end it as I mentioned above. I think that would have made much better closure.

If they did the spin off then they would be back to a huge cast like in season 1 and they found that that didn't work as well.
