Question Is this normal?

okay im 16 and its the summer-now my moms home all the time since she doesnt have a job anymore and this is the first summer with her home. okay now heres where the problem starts-i go to bed at 4 or 3 and i wake up at noon- i dont see the reason for waking up early because its summer-which is of course the only time to relax. my mom says that im not normal and i should get ouf of the house and go places which i understand but she wants me to wake up at 9 and go to bed at about 11:30. but i keep telling her im a teenager and its the summer and im supposed to be able to sleep late and go on the internet and watch tv all day if i want to....what do you think? is it normal? and you people better respond cause i took a lot of time writing this

my mom is like that, she doesn't want me sitting at the computer all day and she's always telling me to get off it. She says that its not normal either, that other kids are always outside and blah blah blah. Lately she hasn't really said anything about it to me.

exactly, my parents think that I come on here and I'm bored, but I usually come on here because I am bored and the internet is fun to me

Yeah...Same here too.

But obviously although it may be a bit abnormal, there are many of us.

I think you may end up regreting spending so much time online. I mean, not that I should talk, but I always enjoy my time out of the house much more than when I'm at home. At the end of the summer, you'll think back and wish you did more.... not "ahh damn, I should have been online more this summer"

Anyways, the sleeping schedule you've got isn't bad. Tell your mom it's too hot in the morning to be awake, and the cool air at night is more comfortable for you. I figure, if you sleep for around eight hours, it shouldn't matter when you do it.

My mom is like that too. The thing is, I'm having tons of problems with friends and stuff and she keeps bothering me to go out and do stuff with people other than those who used to be my best friends. She doesn't understand how hard that is, but whatever. She's constantly telling me to get off the computer, yet I sit here every day. I've done nothing social this summer.

I would rather be on the computer than being out in the streets, which is trouble.

My mom doesn't really complain about me being in the internet, and sleeping and watching TV all the time. She tells me to go outside once in a while, but since I don't have a lot of neighbors around my age and the ones that are my age are drinking and doing bad things, I prefer to stay inside

i think its normal enough.

ive always been a morning person...but you are a teenager and its summer and you only have so many years left where youre not going to have responsibilities and have to get up for work or anything. i say take advantage of the extra sleep and do-nothing time.

maybe think about going outside every so often though.

Actually I agree with barwars. I was like you, would stay up all hours of the night (always have been a nightowl), but would wake up at maybe 11:30 or noon and would get out of the house for a few hours at least. Actually, I was rarely at home - just to eat and sleep, but that of course, was before the internet.

It is summer - get out and enjoy! You can still always have tons of hours online in the nighttime. That's usually when the board is the most active anyway.

I found by changing my sleeping habits so extremely - it would really be rough when school did start getting back into the pattern of going to bed early and worse, getting up so early.

I think it's pretty normal... when I was your age (haha, I make myself sound so old. ), I stayed up till 8am, sometimes..... or maybe I just won't sleep. I'm anti-social, as aresult, tho, so I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not.
