sometimes i wonder if it was the intention of the producers to scare the crap out of the viewers...
often times stack will be talking about a case and get this really dark, serious look on his face!

Yes, that's the point. Sometimes I would here the creepy music. Especially at the end of the episode of the final appeal of a twin who claims his brother was the one who did a robbery. The twin remains in prison.

Regardless of whether it was the point or not, I ALWAYS get scared! The music...the athmosphere...the scenery....Stack's voice...SPOOKY! But I love every minute of it!

My brother and I used to use it as a scare tactic on our younger brothers when we had to take care of them. "Oh you don't want to do your chores? Fine, we'll just sit down and watch Unsolved Mysteries on the VCR so you can enjoy nightmares tonight!" Funny the chores always got done.

Mine: we lived in this one house for years which is where I saw most of my UM eps. I always looked forward to Wednesday nights watching in the living room. BUTTTTT....we had this huge window that looked to the backyard right behind the tv. I was ALWAYS just once waiting for someone to appear at that window behind the tv staring at me like a burglar/psycho

Not really related to UM, but your subject title reminds me of one time when I was younger, I was home alone with my little brother. I promised my mother I'd help with the laundry, so I was hanging up clothes in her closet. While I was doing that, I felt two distinct tugs on the back of my sleeve. Thinking it was my little brother, I whipped my head around to see what he wanted. No one was there. I dropped the clothes and ran into the living room, expecting to find my brother hiding from me, but he was sitting on the sofa, engrossed in a tv show. When I asked him if he had tugged on my shirt, he insisted he didn't do it. I couldn't go back into my mother's bedroom for the rest of the night! It hasn't happened since, but I still get chills.
....And that is my own personal unsolved mystery. One of them, at least. |

Ahhh... laundry and UM. Our laundry room was in the basement and we had those stairs that were open. After watching UM I would have to go get the laundry out of the dryer and would be scared that someone would reach through the stairs and grab my leg. I used to fly up and down the stairs!!!
