Package Art- Not available yet, but set will come in Herman's head! (like Homer in new Simpsons release I guess.)

Oh boy I waited almost three months to get season 1 but for season 2 I will be there on the first day. I guess features from the Canadian Munsters DVD will be on here.

I am upset by the fact that Universal completely ignored our list of bonus features to be added. We submitted them to Universal, here http://www.butch-patrick.com/board/b...3989/76982.htm

Only the 4 Bios? Where are the behind the scenes footage? The pilots?

I know Laugh30 is going to be devasted that there are no more pilots on there.

Another thing I don't like, is that it's going to be packaged in a plastic head of Herman. That means two discs will be on the sides, and one on hinges. That's very cheap! I'm very disappointed!

I also fear that the episodes will be very grainy again, like they were in Season 1.

Holy cow, do you want them or not? I do! Let's not start complaining before they're even out. The first season DVD's looked better than I'd ever seen them. I'd guess the same will hold true for the second season. Heck, when I originally saw them on broadcast TV, it was with a lousy black & white television. It wasn't clear, at all. In fact it was kinda fuzzy. The DVD's look better than they do on TV Land and they're uncut. Before the DVD's came out, I was happy with the TV Land copies.

The news item on tvshowsondvd.com said:

That sounds like there might be more extras than that. Try to think positive thoughts!

Hey, at least we're getting them. I was worried because we hadn't heard anything. That maybe sales for the first season were lower than expected and they were changing their minds and put would it off until early next year or decide not to do it at all.

ADDITIONALLY it could be even worser. I got the ALF season one and they are the syndicated versions, (I guess the second season is, too.)

The case will be the only drawback. I imagine it's to use the Frankenstein-like Herman image to boost sales right before Halloween. At least they'll be out!

In terms of actual running time, we Munsters fans have very little to look forward to. Andy Griffith fans have 8 seasons, Gunsmoke fans have 20 seasons, Cheers fans have 11 seasons, we only have 2 seasons. So I think we deserve the cream-de-la-crem when it comes to a DVD release.

I also feel that the huge time gap between the release of Season 1 and the release of Season 2 tells me that Universal really didn't want to release The Munsters.

Do you have any idea how long the fans of those shows will be waiting until the entire series is out? By then the format may have changed (again) OR the market may have dropped out OR who knows what else and they may not get the entire series. It'll be nice to have the entire series!

Also, I'm sure we'll get the best quality that's available. Incredible picture quality on current movies and other more current shows are making it hard for the older shows to compete. I doubt at this point in time, that perfection in image quality and audio is even possible. I can't repeat enough, the original Munsters negatives are 40 years old. To my knowledge, they haven't been restored, like some of the old block-buster movies. I doubt that Universal would invest that kind of money into a two season TV series from the 60's. Myself, I'm just glad they're releasing them at all. I wasn't even holding my breath on any bonus features. So, whatever they include, I'll be glad to have. I have Green Acres, season one and season two and there isn't any extras included. (Seems to me you have a copy of the Image DVD... )

Who even had a clue we'd still be watching the shows 40 years later? Shows like the Munsters only made it to syndication because of the amount of episodes they did back then. There are plenty of shows that never made it to syndication at all. Some we'll see on DVD and others will likely be slowly forgotten.

There was a lot of time between seasons, but as you pointed out, this is all there is, so, why not drag it out a little bit. I would have likely done the same thing. To savor it, if you will...

Like I said above, "I'm a happy guy!"

IMHO, y'all should be happy, too!

Well, whatever they do with picture and sound shouldn't be too bad. But I'm worried about the packaging. This Herman's head thing, seems fishy to me. If it opens like a book, than that means one or two discs might be on hinges, which means they could easily bump into another disc and become damaged.

I do have the Image DVD, but I was hoping that it would also be on the Season 2 DVD, so that other fans could also see those great extras, as well.

I guess I figured if the Image DVD clips and features weren't in the second season set, they'd make it out sooner or later, either by Image, (again) or somebody else.

I'm sure if any disks are damaged by the packaging, the set would be replaced by where you bought it. Depends on the place, though.

Yeah. Great news. I thought the quality of season 1 was more than respectable and can't imagine season 2 being anything less. And extras as well.
I must admit I'd have preferred a similar package to season 1 to keep a little continuity but who knows...it might be terrific.

The qaulity of Season 1 is OK, but there are a lot of episodes with heavy grain on them. Like, 1, 5, 8, 12, 13, and 17.

As for the A&E Bios for bonus features, I have all 4, and notice that there is a lot of stuff that is repeated, like the marineland skit, the Munster Go Home trailer, parts of the syndicate promos. But there is some good stuff on their personal lives. Watch out in the Fred Gwynne bio. He uses some naughty language.

Yeah, we really do deserve a quality release. (although I'm a huge Cheers fan, too, lol.)

When you get down to it, ANY TV show should get a quality release, because every show has fans. Its not fair for a fan of one show to get a horrid, cheap release while the other fan gets an elaborate, bright, and cheery lookin' set! But most of all, every show deserves to be released, and at least one of our favorites got the chance some other shows didn't and might not never get.

They might've changed the menus though. Although I liked the S1 menus personally.
