Default PAL to NTSC conversion??

Anyone have any idea of how to convert a PAL set to NTSC or remove the designation all together? I have a set of VERONICAS CLOSET complete arriving in PAL format, I can view it on my computer or my all region player just fine... but most cant..

I would like to convert it to NTSC but to be honest, I guess im dumb as dirt b/c i cant figure it out?

unfortunately it's got nothing to do with region coding. It's an issue with the US/Canada broadcasting system using a different video frame rate to the rest of the world(PAL).

The best program to do this is MAINCONCEPT MPEG ENCODER.It is simply one click processing, and I have found it to be by far the best for what you want to do.

I have a PAL to NTSC transferer. I'm sure you can buy them anywhere.

There is no reason for you to buy an expensive PAL/NTSC converter - a few years ago I got an APEX dvd player on ebay for areound $80.00 that is region free and eliminates macrovision. Only earlier models of the Apex dvd player could be adjusted to do that, so you have to make sure you read the auctions carefully. But I can play any dvd in the world on it and hook it up to my dvd recorder to make an NTSC copy.

Yes, you would lose some quality. Lots of info on converting PAL to NTSC, including entire DVDs with menus, can be found in the guides and forums at Videohelp.com.

Converting from PAL to NTSC, or NTSC to PAL, looks pretty bad. Unless you have a $60,000 Snell & Wilcox machine, forget about it. All you'll end up with is video that has errors, typically "judder" (look it up, it's a real video term) either horizontally or vertically, or maybe ghosting. It's not pretty to watch.

At home, the best thing for you to do is get a DVD player that can play both NTSC and PAL. In PAL, most players play NTSC. In NTSC, most players play PAL these days, especially the "cheap" machines from China, like Cyberhome and Apex. As do a lot of DVD recorders like LiteOn and ILO. These players do not "convert" but rather play a quasi signal that your tv can understand. There is no need to convert in the age of DVD.

Default OK

OK, I have $30 to spare, thanks for your concern

I have no problem with the PAL set, I have 5 dvd players in my home and 2 of them are all region and play the PAL set just fine--- MY ONLY CONCERN was that i wanted to trade the set to some others and THEY wanted it in NTSC version and I was wanting to find if it was possible to convert it for them to use ----no big deal people, so let all relax here.....
ill just watch them in PAL and let people know that before i swap

thanks

well the apex all region macrovision free dvd player I have makes PERFECT dvd copies. NO artifacts, NO glitches, no problem with quality. Yes, it is true you lose all the menus, but who cares? If your dvd recorder can create menus you can make your own and if not, it is still a great NTSC copy that the person you are making it for can watch and enjoy on dvd.

These are dvds? you can use a program called dvd shrink and these is a box to check to make the copies region free. this is the least expensive option i can think of -- you can get dvd shrink on kazaa or the like.

Default Converting PAL DVD to NTSC

I have converted several PAL DVD's over to NTSC using Nero with no noticeable degradation of the video. Email me and I can walk you thru it if you would like.
