Default Ann's infamous birthday episode

Why does this episode seem to irritate even the most biggest ODAAT fans? I remember as a kid if I saw it came on I would change the channel. I think it was 20 minutes of Bonnie Franklin talking to herself in her bedroom on her 36th birthday or something.

Somebody on jumptheshark.com said it was the worst 30 min. in television history and Norman Lear was trying to get ODAAT get nominated for an Emmy because all of his other series were doing groundbreaking things and getting recognition.

Naturally, I love to see the episode as an adult and form a new opinion about it. Many people said this was the most horrid of the series.

I saw that episode a couple years ago and it just seems bizarre that a 36 year old would be going through so much angst about being middle aged. Maybe it was more realistic then, but watching it now it just comes of as bizarre.

Hey, I can imagine what Ms. Romano was going thru. Sometimes I get depressed about being 34. I'm off to my bedroom now!

In the old, old days like the 19th century if you weren't married by age 21 people considered you a spinster.

Omg that episode was so wrong! She was turning 40 and she met a plastic surgeon who said she shouldn't change a thing. She invited him to her party and he showed up with a young date. She spent the next 1/2 hour reflecting on her life. It was a weird episode.

That was an insult to 40 year olds everywhere!

It is called "Ann's Crisis." People gave this a 10 rating over at tv.com

How do you like Season 1? If it comes out on DVD would you still buy it? Maybe I won't even like it anmore myself after all these years.
