I went to the American Idol concert last night. I had front row. It was amazing, mainly because I love Constantine.

Backstreets Back..ALRIGHT!

Never Gone Tour Review: 8-6-05, Nissan Pavillion, Manassas,VA

The night started off with this female singer who was the opening act. I forgot her name which obviously means she wasn't that impressive. she did about 4 songs and that was it. I heard people saying "thats 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back" and the little boy in front of us was blocking his ears. Needless to say, I shoulve used that time for a bathroom break

Next up was The Click Five. They came out dressed up in suits and kind of looked a lil bit like The Beatles. They did about six songs including thei single "just The Girl". Overall there performance was fun and energetic. And ladies, let me be the first to tell you that the bass player is GORGEOUS

So after about a 15 minute wait, the crowd is going wild for BSB. Then onto the stage walks the Backstreet Boys' manager Johnny Wright. He proceeds to tell us that in a short five minutes the stage will be loaded with cameras from MTV and that two groups of girls from the new edition of Making the Band will be competing onstage for audience applause. After about 2 minutes the first group comes onstage to do their routine. And let me be the first to tell you, how horendous they were! They got booed. The secong group was a lil bit better so they got applause. I'd honestly hate to see the end result of this making the band lol

Now the moment everyone was waiting for!
The theater went dark and everyone started to scream. It was almost time! Then, on the viewing screens, came footage of the backstreet boys from previous tours and behind the scenes clips. About 3 minutes later the boys from the backstreet came on stage. I went crazy! They started off with "The Call" and they continued to perform a few songs from each album. overallt hey were on stage for about 2-2 1/2 hours. They were very energetic and fun and really connected witht he audience. Not to mention all the jokes they cracked throughout the concert lol. It was well worth the cost of the ticket and the drive to Virginia.

Yellowcard and The Starting Line (11/6/04) at Convention Hall in Asbury Park.
hellogoodbye (2/28/05) at The Continental Club in NYC.

hellogoodbye was the best. I met Forrest (the lead singer and guitarist) and Chris (the drummer) and got great pictures.

WAHH I wanna see BSB!! Theyre coming tomorrow to Portland, but I got cheap and need to afford other concerts -.-

Ummm.. recently I saw Kelly Clarkson, Clay Aiken, and the Idols. I dont really step out of the box when it comes to my favorites. My mother saw Kelly too and said that she loves how shes evolved and that she puts on a good show. Shes all over the stage dancing and jumping, yet she hits every note. Her Hazel Eyes Tour is only like an hour though, which is kinda crappy. Idols were good, but I only really like Anthony and Nikko. Clays show is amazing and its called the Jukebox Tour. He sings songs from 50s, 60s, motown, 70s, 80s, 90s, MOAM, and some of his new ones hes sampling on us. He has no opening act and its a good 2.5 hour show. What I like about his shows is that he really shows off his background singers Angela, Jacob, and Quina. They really interact with the show and at times its more like a group than just a solo act.

OZZFest, August 11, 2005, White River Ampitheater, Auburn, WA.

While last year's Ozzfest was a tour de force with Judas Priest headlining, this year's Ozzfest was a mixed blessing. On the down side, Ozzy's recurring vocal problems marred what was otherwise a killer performance. On the up side, the evening totally belonged to IRON MAIDEN.

I missed the opening band Arch Enemy, who had a hottie female lead singer and are supposed to be a very popular band, which you would think would earn them a later spot on the Hot Topic Second Stage. I was still waiting to enter the club.
Trivium was the first band I got to see, and they were a very intense, thrashing band that were a good start to the morning.
The Black Dahlia Murder were another good intense band that topped the previous band, would like to hear more of them. Their band logo was pretty impressive as well.
The Haunted was a bit of a disappointment, the lead singer tried to look and sound like a Phil Anselmo knock off, and their brand of angst-thrash didn't sound up to par with with what was later to come. It was okay, but what also put me off was when they talked about the other bands on the bill, referring to Arch Enemy as "Arch Enema", which I couldn't tell if it was a joke or whatever. They then started on a tirade against certain *performers of alternative sexual calisthenics" who "messed them up" while on tour, which I was trying to figure out if they were the above bands listed, or some other offending party, but it just rubbed me the wrong way, thinking they were doing something unprofessional by slagging other bands on the bill, but I don't want to spread ill about them when I was trying to make sense of what they were saying.
Bury Your Dead was a much better band that was tight, fierce, and thrashing but not in the all-over-the-place kind of way. Their lead singer sang like Phil Anselmo, but looked like Henry Rollins. This was a band I would like to hear more of.
Wicked Wisdom, a band fronted by actor Will Smith's wife Jada Pinkett Smith, was a band we all would like to have seen, but I found out that they had already left the tour by the time they got to the Pacific Northwest. So that was a disappointment.
Gizmachi were another very good band, but by this time, a pattern was established that the emphasis was on the aggro-thrash band variety whose soul purpose was to get everyone into a mosh pit mood. Can anyone really have too much of a good thing?
Soilwork was a band from Sweden who were more of a change of pace; while still in the thrash mode they still had a little more variation going on in their music, maybe more European influences or something, it didn't sound like every other thrash band on the bill. I liked these guys and would like to hear more of them.
It Dies Today was another good band worth checking out, seeming a little darker, and their band banner was very impressive and spooky as well. I should listen up for more of them. It was strange that so many bands on the bill had variations of the word die or death.
A Dozen Furies was another band that at first I thought was a little above average at first, but the more their set went on, I thought they were very good. Their durmmer had his drum kit positioned facing the side of his stage like Robert Sweet of Stryper had back in the 80's, but there the comparison ended. The guitar solos and drumming were very good for a faster than fast band.
Mastodon was a big name I'm sure everyone was looking forward to, I was impressed with the band's musicianship, it was more than mere thrash-tacular metal. Their guitarists played Gibsons, the best guitars in the business, and the drummer had a polka dot drum kit with a drum kit with a picture of Randy Rhoads, Ozzy's fallen guitarist--and considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time--on the drum head, an interesting choice for a drummer. Must have been done to impress Ozzy! It may have also showed some classic metal leanings their choice of instruments and icons.
As I Lay Dying was another very good band, heard members are Christians, and they did put out a positive vibe without losing their intensity, as seems to be the case with many "Christian crossover" bands. Worth checking out for an up and coming name in cutting edge metal.

Needless to say, the moshpits were in full effect during some of the bands. At one point, not one but TWO wheelchairs were lifted up for their viewers to see the stage.

Killswitch Engage was another set I was looking forward to, first saw them open the Second Stage in 2003, and now they had a new lead singer Howard Jones (not to be confused with the 80's synth-pop artist who did "Life In One Day"), an African-American who was right at at home in one of the biggest rising acts in metal. He had a very decent stage presence and voice, but the biggest surprise was one of their guitarists who wore a pair of toy moose antlers on his head! It was like this mask/hood with a big snout where his face would peer out, and as he rocked out, the antlers would thrash back and forth. He even made his guitar sound like a bellowing moose! Jones even said he was glad to be playing at a venue where the day was not overbearingly hot as it was in so many other places in the country. There were a few clouds, nicely warm, a little cooler than in the past few weeks.

The headliner of the Second Stage was the ever-popular Rob Zombie, who, in his typical fashion, had the stage decorated with huge banners of nude women taken from back issues of Playboy magazine, including girlie pictures on the drum heads. It was quite an eye-opener, and a welcome relief from all the alpha-male machismo of the other bands. It reflected his fascination with pop culture kitsch and erotica. It was perfect display of overkill amd represented him to the hilt (except without his interest in horror movies, as he was there to pitch his latest flick "The Devil's Rejects"). He had an entertaining brand of "dance-metal" with that enticing groove, and sang songs such as some of my favorites "Living Dead Girl", the song that says "scream if you want to, 'cause I want more", "Dragula", and other hits from his previous band White Zombie, such as "Thunderkiss '65",
"Supercharger Heaven", and "More Human Than Human". His guitarist was John Five, who previously played with Marilyn Manson and was an appropriate member of his backup band. The whole set was nicely decadent and filled with a badly-needed sense of humor. Zombie commented on the people filling the lawn above the mainstage, wondering what they were doing missing the fun down in front of the Second Stage, perhaps snacking on cheese and wine on picnic blankets. He also was relieved about the cooler weather, not so much that the day in Western Washington was more pleasant than on previous tour dates in the summer, but for the fact that he didn't have to hear about other guys whining about "I'm losing my electrolytes". This was one of my favorite acts on the bill.

i actually want to go to another backstreet boys show.

anyway,

this past year, i've been to an american idol 3 and kelly clarkson concert. both were absolutely amazing

i went to an nsync concert in 2001 - which wasn't great because it was all songs from their celebrity album which was going to be released in a month, so we knew like, no songs.

Aw man! You're so lucky you got to go see BSB MissZero! I remember when I went to their concert in 1999. They put on the best show ever! Good times, good times!

Anyways...AMERICAN IDOL IN SEVEN MORE DAYS!! I simply can't contain my excitement!
