1. Does anyone know the email address for Sony pictures?
2. Is there any chance of seeing Sanford, Sanford Arms, and Grady, Maude, Checking In, Gloria, Archie Bunker's Place on DVD? 3. What shows does Sony and Parmont own? 4. Is there a chance of seeing MASH, AFTERMASH, Trapper John MD on DVD? 5. What company owns Blankie's Beautys and Out of the Blue? 6. Why don't the companyies that own the shows release any of the short lives series? Fox does it they release Milluineum and Lone Gunman. |

Recent short lived shows tend to get released fast, b/c they have a cult fan base, that will buy them.... Lone Gunmen was a flop, but they knew it would sell on dvd.... BUT older shows dont have the same strong following most of the time
I think its likely that Archie Bunkers Place Might get released <BUT not until All In The Family is all out on dvd, in a few years.... most of the others will most likely never be on dvd. Shows like BLANKSYS BEAUTIES would not sell at all, I would LOVE to get them, but to be honest, there would be no $$ in releasing them.... and others like AfterMASH were not only flops, But Very UNPOPULAR with fans of the original shows... so it is unlikely that those will be put out... I mean there are SO MANY shows they can put out that WILL make Lots of $, that they do not often take the chance of rare ones. IF YOU WANT, I have some on dvd myself, SANFORD complete, SANFORD ARMS 4 eps, GRADY 3 eps, Maude, AfterMASH and the W*A*L*T*E*R pilot, Archie Bunkers Place and Gloria and Trapper John MD, 149 eps on 31 discs.... email me if you are interested nmboye@aol.com |

I believe season one through eight is on dvd for mash--
a great site for this is http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/ To answer the larger question as far as why don't companies that own release certain things. Rights and ownership changes often- and if a show is airing sometimes the network has bought out that option for a certain amount of time. In example, Seinfeld was known to be airing on TBS so often, people tuned in for it- that was part of their line up - and therefore they made a private arrangement - as once it is avaialble , less people would tune in. Columbia House owned the rights to many shows, and their availability to release was lessoned due to that. Once a show gains popularity, people want to see it- sometimes it depends on who gets to it first. They balance cost of selling it, creating it, art work- packaging it. And as well, some actors early on- added clauses of such releases, that they get royalties. And for some add 1 + 1 + 1 and they won't make enough on the set to put it out. As far as who owns what shows, I'll see if I can find that |

Also when a studio starts to sell of it's property or ends up declaring bankruptcy
then the release of some shows get muddied. But it does boil down to the allmighty dollar. If 200,000 people buy the show at 30.00 a pop they make 6,000,000 dollars. That makes it worth it to put out a show (the long gunman is a great example, Even Serenity the movie will bring out a chunk of money for Joss Whedons company when Firefly is out on DVD) If it won't sell, they won't put it out. It sucks but that ends up how they look at it. |
