In the episode,"Here Comes The Bride,There Goes The Bride",Lamont tells Fred at the church that he wasn't going to throw his life away like Harry Belafonte and that he was Lamont Sanford a lousy junkman. What happened to Harry Belafonte to make Lamont say that?

I know that the episodes from the 1st and 2nd season were adapted from the Steptoe and Son episodes in England,but how did they fit that to adapt to that particular episode?

Actually, Lamont said:

"Pop, I'm *not* Harry Belafonte. I'm Lamont Sanford, a lousy junk dealer. I was lucky to get her."

Thus, he wasn't putting Belafonte down at all. He was putting himself down as compared to Belafonte.

I know in real life, Demond had a problem with the way Sammy Davis Jr. and Flip Wilson were back in the day.

It might have been, but I know in Sammy Davis Jr. case, it was how he represented himself as concerning the black community.The article was in Vibe magazine awhile back.
