I don't recall the year, but it was a missing person story. It was about a professional dog show handler who was either a man, then had a sex change to female or vice versa. was reclusive, finally disappeared. don't know if it was foul play or not. can anyone help?

That was the case of Camilla Lymon who later had a sex change and changed her name to Cam Lymon. I know her remains were found in the septic system but I'm not sure if the case has ever been solved although I know they are a prime suspect.

It's on one of the "bizarre murders" Dvd. I dunno the name, but there's a blurb of description re: that case in the back of the DVD in question.
