ok yesterday i posted a question Reaging if the cosby show dvd's where the orgnail NBC versions or The Sydcation Versions My question to Eveyone is this How do we Know that they are the Sydcation versions and not the Full Lentgh NBC versions ?

Probably because the runtimes on each episode run between 21:30 and 23:00 is the reason that they are using the syndicated prints. Now I didn't watch The Cosby Show when it was on in first run but maybe if someone taped those first season NBC episodes in their entirety then we might just know what has been edited out of each episode.

the NBC versions should clock in around 24-25 minutes. I have Golden Girls seasons 1 and 2 (which aired almost around the same time, GG premiered in 1985 and TCS in 1984) and all the episodes are 25 mins give or take. Syndicated cuts are generally 21-22 mins, so you're missing about 3 mins on average.

Since none of us have access to the NBC eps, even if the eps on the DVD ran 24-25 min, there still be a small possiblity that something was cut out. But a ep that runs 21-23 min on the DVD lets us know that footage was definitely was cut out.

That and the fact that they edited a whole character out of episode 7.
