Default Which theme song was better?

I think I liked the original song. Isn't that the one that started with "Early to bed, early to rise?" That is the one I think is the best.

I think the other version started with something like "I used to be sad..."

Uh, no. It's "Early to rise, early to bed."

Default Themes...

Yep I think you have them

I agree that the earlier version was a bit more "soulful", but it also needed a change thanks to a LOOOONNNNG and HEALTHY run

Blessings

I received a 1984 Episode of ALICE and i didn't like that Opening Theme at all. What Opening Theme has Linda Lavin singing one final note at the end of the song? I do know it was from 76-79 era.

They all sucked. Linda Lavin was a horrible singer. They would have been better off puttting an instrumental version in the opening credits. I'll take the later versions, though.

Default Opening Theme

The 1st one (1976-1978) was hitting! It really fit with the premise of the show. I mean, her car breaks down in the middle of Phoenix and she's trying to survive. Phoenix was not her initial stop. Didn't you all see the movie? The woman and her child were practically living out of their suitcases. She had to make do with what she had, hence taking a job at a greasy spoon ("She was just passing through, but if things work out she's gonna stay awhile"). I say the first theme was cool because it was appropriate for what she was going through.

The theme changed when she established herself "This girl's here to stay", but the first theme was soulful.

Linda Lavin was a great singer. I'd rather listen to anything sung by her than any of the crap pushed today by these so-called "singers."

Default Linda Lavin Horrible Singer!

I thought they all were bad songs, and Linda Lavin was an awful singer.... the episodes I hated were the ones where Alice would be singing or trying to make it as a star... I mean come on, she was average looking at best and her singing was like someones mom, drunk at a karoke bar.

Also, I liked Flo, but I never understood how she was such a sex kitten, I mean, she was pretty rough looking too, and worn out looking. I think I would go for Mels Mom carrie, over Flo!

You're a disrespectful *****. Linda Lavin is a great singer. As for her looks, who cares? I can think of many successful singers that look worse than she does.

Goodness! Anyways, I liked the first season song because it was appropriate for the premise. I liked the 1980 version as well. You know, the one with the bongos and drums heard in the backround. Then in 1981 they did update it again and that version was really upbeat and catchy and I love that version. It was accurate for the 80's run of the series. BTW, Flo had confidence in herself. She did not necessarily have to rely on her looks. LOL. "Mel's mother over Flo?"

Any theme song is better than the one they closed the show with. It sounded like somebody beating a cow that was trying to sing.

Man oh man, when she and that old actress they call "big mouth". Mel's mom. I can't recall her name. She died a few years back and was married to that younger gay guy. Anyhow, that episode where Alice and her were dressed in those awful 80's cut sweaters that go down to their knees and they sing "Do You think I'm Sexy" NOPE YOU ARE NOT.
