So funny. I don't think JJ sung any of the song.
But I was watching some show the other day and realized that if you watch a show enough, the theme song will sound like some of the characters are singing it. |

Yeah...I thought of that too.
The line "Anytime you need a friend..." sounds like Willona... "Scratching and surviving" sounds like JJ "Haning in a chow line" sounds like Thelma |

It's not really known who sang the theme song, I've never been able to find out.

It sure sounded like them, didn't it. I used to think that when I was a child watching it. Same goes for the Jeffersons and the Brady Bunch.

this question reminds of when it was thought that Lawrence Hilton Jacobs of Welcome Back Kotter sang the theme to the show. It sure sounded like him. And to think, it was a white guy all along!!

I always thought it was James(John Amos) singing, especially when I heard the lyrics, "Scratchin and Survivin'". Also, when I was really young, I thought the guy riding the bike at the end of the credits was also John Amos. Oh, well . . .

Isn't it amazing how funny things are when we look back at what we thought as a child.

Yeah, I also thought that it was John Amos and Janet DuBois singing the theme song.
