Default Keith is proof why you need an education

Keith having hurt himself, okay, now he can't play football, but had he educated himself in the brain, he would have had something to fall back on. May not have been a million dollar a year job but it would have been better than driving a cab. He could have had a decent job elsewhere and then he and Thelma could have at least left the ghetto.

How did he start driving that cab anyway? That was quite sudden. They never talked about him driving one.

Keith had to have had an education. He was a pro football player. You weren't drafted out of high school.

Yeah Zion I know that. But what I am saying is that he focused mostly on football in school obviously. It is typical especially in that era for guys to have been focusing on sports rather than their education and when they had a career ending injury, they had nothing to fall back on. I know that Keith went to school, college, whatever, but he WAS NOT EDUCATED. Do you get what I mean? Anyone can go to school, but not everyone gets educated. He should have had a back up plan for the day he could no longer play football. Had he maybe received a degree in accounting let's say, he could have used that skill in a city or town where he could have moved him and Thelma. It wouldn't have been the lifestyle of a million dollar football player, but it would have been better than the ghetto. Remember, that is what James always told him children. Get an education so your hands don't have to look like mine.

Well since they never mentioned what he majored in, it's hard to say. It was still a time when even with an education, it was hard for many blacks to obtain good jobs. Even today, having a degree, even if you've graduated with a high GPA, many (any race now) find it hard to land good jobs, let alone even in their field of study. I just think it's a stretch to say he wasn't educated. JMO

By the way, I got a response from TVLand. Do you want me to email it to you?

My real name is Keith. I forgot that Keith got a job driving a taxi when he got hurt early during his pro football career. Education is definitely important & it's a shame that most black pro athletes don't have a career to fall back on if their careers end early or if they don't get drafted. That's exactly why the NBA now is about to have a rule that says you have to be 20 years old to get drafted because too many high school basketball players are getting drafted & they aren't ready for the NBA. Kwame Brown is a perfect example of that. He hasn't done sh*t since he's been in the league. All he did was make excuses when he was with the Washington Wizards about why he wasn't that good. Now he's gonna get another chance with the Lakers & i'm gonna see what's gonna be his excuse when he doesn't do well with them. For every Lebron James, there's a Kwame Brown LOL. Every high school player doesn't do well in the NBA & NBA scouts need to realize that.

One of the main reasons Lebron is doing well is because he's physically built for the league. If not, then his chance of making it would have gone down.

You got that right. A 20 year old taking the league by storm like he is??
