Default Bad news, Roseanne DVD is going to be cut

I just emailed Anchor Bay to finally put to rest the question of whether the episodes would be syndicated or full versions. Sorry, bad news, the response I got was ....

"The release will be of the syndicated version."

If this is true, it's completely ridiculous. Why would we want to buy the syndicated version when we can see it on TV all the time? What a huge let down after looking forward to it for so long.

Now I'm convinced it's Carsey Werner's fault and not the distributors. First Cosby's edited now this? I'm pissed, to be honest. But I'm still buying.

I sent a e-mail to Gord on TVShowsonDVD.com to see if it will be indeed cut to make sure and here is what Gord said:

Yes, it will be. We'll have more on that soon.

It looks to be Carsey-Werner's doing, not Anchor Bay. So, it is likely they messed up UrbanWorks' Cosby Show release, too.

I don't understand how they could've messed up The Cosby Show and Roseanne, but gave us 3rd Rock unedited. There is no way 3rd Rock was going to sell as much as the other two titles.

Carsey-Werner is full of crap as far as I'm concerned. They held out on DVD releases because they wanted to find the "right distribution company" for their releasees who would treat their shows with care. However, they go and give us edited versions of their two most popular titles?

Maybe they lost the unedit versions? I dunno, yeah, it's really stupid, I mean Full House and Golden Girls is uncut, why not Cobsy Show, Roseanne, and Alf? I don't get it...

Well, 3rd Rock is probably left unedited because the show premiered in the mid-90s, when the episode run usually 22-23 minutes, rather than 24.

Here is a quote from our 3rd Rock review by TVJunkie101:
"I did notice something that gives me pause: The theme uses the shortened intro (doesn’t have the James Earl Jones “this is the story of four such explorers/they had an extra seat” voiceover – it goes straight into the music). – shortened intros are usually a sign on syndication cuts, but the episodes run 22:00; which seems about right for a show from 1996. Unfortunately, I never recorded the show in original broadcast or syndication, so I have nothing for comparison. It’s also possible that James didn’t clear his voiceover at the start of the show."
