..then want to take care of him the next? She was so worked up over Michael being chumped for his lunch, encouraging him not to fight, becomes worried sick over him when he's late from school, then caring for Eddie three minutes later, convincing James to let him stay. Michael sure laid it on thick, didn't he? The funny part was when he said that the "teachers make fun of Eddie"
Damn, he must;ve been dumb. Teachers are there to help you learn As for Michael, that to me was very unrealistic. Do you believe any kid is nice enough to help you like that? As a kid growing up, I can say that I never use to feel sorry for any bully. Especially to the point of bringing him to my home for a weekend. Then again as he told his mother, he was doing it to keep from getting beat up Question: When JJ's hat flew off his head (as he was teaching Michael to fight), was that a blooper? |

I noticed something else. As Florida was pouring them milk, he gave her a little grin, of sorts. Not sure if that was part of the script. Poor kid wasn't used to anything. He even called saying grace dumb.

Florida, and her motherly instinct, saw the real reason behind Eddie being a bully. He was from a very disfunctional home. His mother didn't care what he did, and if I can remember, there was no father present in the household.
That's why Florida asked him to stay for dinner. She wanted Eddie to realize that people do care. Eddie's being a bully was a way of covering his true feelings about himself. I loved when James reached for his belt, threatening to whip Eddie.

Man, I was never hit by either of my parents, but that doesn't mean I did nothing wrong. It was the [B]fear of getting hit that kept me in check.
I swear, I don't believe in any sort of abuse for kids, but there are just some times when a good whack on the butt will make you think twice. |
