You'd think so judging by the cast of characters (fat stupid drunken dad, smart baby, mother trying to keep everything under control, etc) but it's actually quite different and original.

anyway.. FAMILY GUY. the simpsons is pretty damn funny but family guy is only about a thousand times funnier. i can't tell you how many times it's literally made me laugh myself to tears.

I've never seen The Family Guy, but I would like to check it out. I'm not voting until I give FG a chance.

I wouldn't say "completely different." Family Guy is a cruder, crazier version of The Simpsons. I have seen many of the episodes and I have gotten some chuckles out of them, but if The Simpsons hadn't done it first, FG wouldn't have seen the light of day.

Yes, I'm a Simpsons man myself and I do agree that it's not as good as it once was. It's been uneven for the last few years. But overall, I still prefer it to FG. But if anyone likes FG over The Simpsons, that's cool too.

I used to like them both and now I don't really care for either, but if I had to choose one, it would be The Simpsons.
