Default George "GOD" Burns - jump the shark moment - worst episode

I take back what I said about Alice dressed as the gangster "Sam Butler!" That wasn't the worst episode of Alice.

The worst episode is George Burns as the special guest star, and idiot Vera really believes he is "God." What a HUGE jump-the-shark moment in TV history! Remember those horrible George Burns and John Denver movies "Oh, God" and "Oh, God Book II." I think George Burns' career jumped the shark with those films...and also with this episode of Alice!

I actually liked that episode okay from what I remember, but it's been some years since I've seen it. If they'd start rerunning the show again I might be able to judge it better.

Default Season Sets (to Jeff)

Hi Jeff...

I don't know how much it can help but TWO of those at least, Alice and Newhart, can be voted for as well at Amazon.com...I'm for ANY way of getting those shows on DVD that we can....

If the feeling hits you, voting there and tvshowsondvd.com may help us accomplish getting them out

Blessings....

PS, I don't think the Oh God movies were THAT bad for their day

Hey, thanks!
I'll go there and vote. And no, the "Oh, God" movies weren't bad at all. Of course, I like most stuff from the 70s and 80s. Thanks again

Yep, remember the episode started when she thought a soap opera character was dying. Wasn't Vera waaay too old to believe anything on the screen was real.

I think its a great episode. It has a 70s timestamp on it. George playing God was a huge movie which spilled over into a sitcom.

I think the next season opens with Vera seeing Kojack in the Diner and no one believing her.

I disagree I think the episode they did with Art Carney playing himself was worse. I don't remember the exact plot because it's been years since I've seen any episodes of Alice, but Vera somehow finds out she's like a distance cousin to Art Carney.
