Default Something concerning the UFO aspect of Unsolved Mysteries

I was reading amazon.com about the UFO dvd trying to see if a certain segment was on it when i came across this reader comment on the page where the DVD set was for sale:

"Some years back,I viewed a more credible show than this one called "Arthur C Clarke's Mysterious Universe" and they proved that a film of a "flying saucer" crossing the mountains was in fact a Cessna aircraft. Some years later I saw another show investigating mysteries and,low and behold, there was the same film(that already had been proven to be a Cessna)once again portrayed as a "flying saucer". The bottom line is that these shows need product and tall stories are not beyond them.

The "Arthur C Clarke's Mysterious Universe" DVD also had interviews with people that showed how they had created crop circles and yet we still have this fallacy being promoted as a mystery. That Arthur C Clarke DVD is a much better buy than this one.

The bottom line is to take these shows with a grain of salt. Roswell/Area 51 has been proven to be a myth as has Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. [....] These are tall stories folks and should be treated as such. This show is entertaining and Robert Stack is a good host,so if you like tall stories then buy it,otherwise save your money."

Who here has seen this other show that is mentioned? And since when has Roswell and Area 51 been proven to be a myth? Sure there are theories to what they are, but as far as i know, they've never been proven as factual information. I'm not really sure what he's talking about when he mentioned a "Cessna" craft either.

I really was never too interested in the UFO subject 'till i started watching all of the UFO segments of Unsolved Mysteries back to back on the DVDs so i was hoping someone here would enlighten me on whether this guy is either full of crap or is making a point. I personally don't agree with him, especially since i really enjoyed the UFO stuff from UM but i was curious whether i'm missing something here...

Well, I've seen the Arthur C. Clarke special where they went through the Hansen film frame by frame and showed that it probably was a Cesna, so yes, I can confirm that much for you. As far as other documentaries using that footage and presenting it as the real Mccoy, I wouldn't know. I've seen almost all of the UFO segments Unsolved Mysteries has done over the years, and I know that they have not used it.

I'm not sure why they would say Area 51 is a myth. It most certainly exists, as I have seen it from atop the Stratoshpehere Hotel in Las Vegas. As to whether or not they have alien space craft/bodies out there is anyone's guess.

There are still the occasional Bigfoot and Loch Ness Monster sightings, so again, I'm not sure why these are being called "myths". About ten years ago, a man on his deathbed admitted that he was responsible for faking the famous "surgeon's photograph" of the Loch Ness Monster, but some believe his confession was a hoax.

I also remember seeing a documentary that claimed Roger Patterson's famous 1967 film of a Sasquatch was faked, but they couldn't prove it beyond a doubt, other than to say that Patterson had connections with a movie company back in the day (American National Enterprises, I think).

Hope this helps.
