The mysterious appearing key to the bank?

Anyone realize that in the episode where Lucy gets drafted, Lucy first has to work at her house overtime, because Mr. Mooney says he doesn't have a key to the bank, and they wouldn't even give him a key to the washroom. That makes sense for the show, but in another episode, Lucy Meets Sheldon Leonard, they are gonna "shoot a pilot" in the bank, and Mr. Mooney, just whips out a key to the front door of the bank from his desk.

He weisel out a key in one of the episodes or something, or did he just forget his key in the Drafted episode?

You can find dozens of inconsistencies in this show if you look for them. In the episode where Lucy goes to her college reunion, her maiden name is Taylor. In a later episode, it's McGillicuddy (just like Lucy Ricardo). In that college reunion episode, we learned Lucy was a college graduate, but three years later in the episode where she babysits chimps, she said she only graduated high school and never went to college. Then the next season, there is an episode where she goes back to high school because she never got her diploma! And now that you mention that drafted episode, how about the fact that she refers to her son as Jimmy when she receives a letter from him (the character's name was Jerry!). In the fifth season, Lucy took a trip to London. In an episode the following year, guest-starring Sid Caesar, she says she's "never been abroad." The character Mr. Mooney joined the show in the second season, but Lucy didn't go to work for him until they both moved to California in the fourth season. By the time of the final episode in the sixth season, Lucy had been working for him for less than two and a half years, but says she's worked for him for six years (she hadn't even known him that long). These are just a few examples, but I'm sure there are many, many more.

I remember the ep very well where Lucy babysat the chimps but I didn't remember her saying she never went to college in that ep. Good observation! I picked up the inconsistency between the college ep and Lucy going back to high school in the 1990's when I watched the show on rerun on Nickatnite.

Wow! Those are great observations. There were many inconsistencies. I didn't realize that.

In the chimp episode, she didn't specifically state that she didn't have a college degree, but it was clearly implied. She was asked about her educational background and she responded that she was a high school graduate (indicating that was the extent of her education). But then the following season, she reveals she never graduated from high school.

There probably aren't any long-running series with zero inconsistencies. I've caught inconsistencies in "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show." Probably the most egregious ones I've seen are in "The Doris Day Show," where the series begins with widowed Doris Martin living with her widowed father and two sons. Later the two sons disappear with no explanation. Then there are references to her mother coming to dinner (a pretty amazing feat for someone who's supposed to be dead!). And then they start calling Doris "MISS Doris Martin," which implies she had never before been married.

Is it possible that after the frustration of having to work out of Lucy's house that afternoon, Mooney later insisted on having a key to the bank?
