Default Rank the Characters from favorite to least favorite!

If you had to rank the characters in order, what would it be? Here are mine:

1. Ethel- my favorite character on the show! She is so funny! I love her fights with Fred and how she just can't believe the crazy situations Lucy gets into! I love how she just eats all day long and doesn't care what anyone thinks! She is my number one character, even though Lucy makes me laugh a little more. I just love Ethel's dead pan humor!

2. Lucy- She is obviously the star of the show. She is just so funny!!!! I love her to death!

3. Fred- He is tied with Lucy for second place. I just love Fred!!!! William Frawley deserves a lot of credit for making a "miserable tightwad" a loveable character! He is just so funny making fun of Ethel and calling her fat! I think the Mertze's little fights are some of the funniest parts of the show.

4. Ricky- My least favorite character hands down. I didn't think he was that funny compared to the others and he was kind of mean to Lucy. I just didn't like his character as much as the other characters.

1- Fred...funniest old drunk on TV
2- Ricky...without ricky, Lucy couldnt have possibly been funny, every comic needs a straightman, and Desi was the best, and he was funny on his own too, able to laugh at himself incl his mispronunciations of Eng
3- Ethel...lovely lady who always made me laugh
4- Lucy....Not that im saying Lucy wasnt amazingly funny, they ALL were
5- Little Ricky...a cute kid, but not really necessary to the plots, for the most part
6- Mrs Trumble...probably the funniest " part time " character in history

1.) Lucy!! Because she was so funny & she was so dramatic & funny, especially the situations she gets herself into.
2.)Ethel - Lucy's partner in crime.. I like her best when she's with Lucy, these two together is crazy LOL!
3.)Ricky - Didn't generate many laughs but he was ok, definately wouldn't be funny without Lucy
4.)Fred - Least favorite, I really wasn't all that interested in Fred & there were a couple of times he generated laughs but not many!

1) Fred. I suppose this is because he is the character I most relate to. I'm tight with money (at least compared to many people) and I often throw wisecracks around, not all of which are taken in jest.

2) Lucy. Unquestionably LB's Lucy character is an original, and if she has always been a welcome visitor in your home you still laugh with her even though you know every trick she is going to try, and how it turns out. However, I will admit I don't really like Lucy as much as I used to; maybe I'm getting too cynical as I get older, but in spite of the laughs, some of Lucy's actions are really arrogant, hurtful, and sometimes even criminal, and I guess I just can't see all that as being as funny as I used to.

3) Ethel. Basically a nice, decent person with a good wit, but sometimes I wish she wasn't such a pushover, always getting involved in Lucy's scheme in spite of saying at first she will have nothing to do with it. She also often appeases Fred too much [e.g, "Well, I've gotta go fix Fred's lunch; he gets grouchy if it's late"]. One thing, neither good nor bad overall, is that she can be Jeckyll & Hyde type, and occasionally she is as arrogant or selfish as Lucy, or she stands up to Fred threatening him with violence.

4) Ricky. The "straight man" of the gang, it's usually good he is there and is the one who really has 'power' in a sense; that is, he's a sharp businessman as well as successful entertainer, and is a competent manager which extends to being the 'mind' of the 4 principles. However, he sometimes does cede this role and acts like the rest of them; scheming, being arrogant, selfish and spiteful. His bad English is not really that funny, nor is it really that bad, anyway. He is usually, but far from always, able to keep his professional expertise and its rewards in perspective. His temper, often described as bad, or at least quick and high, is not really worse than the other 3.

For the other characters:
5) Mrs. Trumbell. She "babysits" the action quite well.
6) Ralph Ramsey. A somewhat "lesser Fred" who is almost as funny.
7) Jerry the agent. Just there to tie a few loose ends, but okay.
8) Little Ricky. Basically an "excuse character." The fact that he was there determined a significant part of the action, but it would be a monumental task to make a complete character out of a kid 0 to 5 years old.
9) Betty Ramsey. Has the qualities of all of Lucy's 'girlfriends'-- conniving, vain, socially ambitious-- but she was sort of an 'invader' to the established partnership of Lucy and Ethel and could not add anything in that way.
10) Carolyn Applebee. Not that bad, but she was always there to compete against Lucy in some way; and because we don't 'know' her as we know Lucy, it's hard to like her.

1. Ricky.
Always makes me laugh the most. I love Ricky, I think he's great. Desi put 150% into everything, and I love the bandleader character, and the stuff set at the nightclub too. I was watching "The Girls Want To Go To A Nightclub" earlier this evening, and there's so much great stuff in that one from Ricky. His terrified performance of Guadalajara is hilarious.

2. Ethel.
Not sure why I put her above Lucy. Really there's little to choose between them for me, and I guess Lucy probably makes me laugh more. It's just that Lucy is so scheming, and Ethel seems so sweet by comparison!

3. Lucy.
Lucy is funny, but she does annoy me at times. There's no denying the talent of Lucille Ball, but I'm trying not to confuse character with performer here. At the end of the day, I think that if I knew Lucy for real, she'd probably drive me batty pretty quickly.

4. Fred.
Fred is funny, and I love his relationship with Ricky. They have a lot of good scenes together. On his own, though, Fred is less funny. People often talk about Ricky being the straight man, but to me it's Fred. Again, a great performer - William Frawley was a real old pro. I just don't find Fred as funny as the others.

Hey I haven't been here to post in over a year. What happened to SPLAIN, Lodee? I think I remember Mickey and Unmarried happy. Did most of the senior members from back then leave?

To stay on the subject:
They were all on the same level to me. I remember some of the episodes without the Mertzes involved, and it felt incomplete and empty. Most notably the pilot episode. They were a perfect, well-oiled machine when they were all involved.

Quite a lot of us left, Mkaleek, as things got quite nasty for a while. I know that I, for one, got sick of being constantly flamed for daring to say that I find Desi funnier than Lucy. It was never meant as an insult to Lucy, but some people seemed incapable of understanding that. She's highly revered in the States, I know, and good on her - but there's nothing like that Cult Of Lucy in the UK, so maybe we can be more subjective, I don't know.

Still think Desi's funnier, anyhow.

And hello everyone.

Splain's still about? When did he leave here then?

Mkaleek. Sticking to guns?! Maybe! I've had some scuffles in forums before, but I've never been flamed quite as violently as I was over the Desi/Lucy thing. I think I got a little sensitive.

Might be time I changed the text under my avatar, huh. I'd forgotten about it!
