OK, so "foxy mama" might've been popular 70's slang, but how many times was it directed at Florida? I mean I liked the Florida character, but I would never say she was "foxy." Maybe James thought she was foxy. It was done with no doubt just to get laughs from Esther Rolle's looks.
She was called foxy mama on Maude by a furnace repairman, and the pimp called her foxy mama in season 1 I think. Was she called foxy mama anymore than that? |

Exactly, James found Florida to be a "foxy mama". It was good because she was more than a mother on this show. She was a wife and to her husband, she was HOT. It was nice watching this show for the first time in the 70's and seeing a couple with three kids still having the hots for each other. I guess that's what they (the writers) wanted to convey. You have this family with these "urban" problems but they have "Good times" and the parents are also a couple who find each other HOT.
