Default The Deele's Shoot Em Up Movies Song

I love this song. It came out in the mid 80's i believe. Babyface was in this group before he went solo. I heard a new song by this rap group CampLo last week called Gotcha. They sample Shoot Em Up Movies song. CampLo made the hit song Luchini which came out 8 years ago. That's not the first time it's been sampled. Another rapper named Big Noyd sampled it for Shoot Em Up part 2 song with Mobb Deep. I hope The Deele have been paid for this song being sampled because a lot of times rappers won't even pay the artist that they sampled. That happened to James Brown. A lot of his music has been sampled by rappers & he said he was never paid. Speaking of Babyface, he's on the cover of Jet magazine this week talkin about what he's been up to lately & he has a new album coming out. I was listening to The Deele's first album Street Beat a few days ago. I love that album. I haven't heard their other albums but i've heard their songs Two Occasions, I Send You Roses, Sweet November.

Babyface was on Regis and Kelly Tuesday. Whoopi was Regis' cohost.

I love that song too.I l also love two occasions. I remember Big Noyd sampled that with Mobb Deep, but I didn't know the Deele didn't get paid for it. James Brown was forever ripped off. That's why I hate sampling. It take the creativity away.

I don't know if The Deele were paid for the sample but i'm sure they were because a rapper can't sample a artist's music unless you pay the artist first or pay the publishing company that the song came from.

This is a great song. It sounds like a tune the Dells or the Stylistics would have recorded.

Was Russell Thompkins the lead singer of The Stylistics? If he was, how come his voice sounded like a woman? LOL. I saw The Stylistics on PBS channel a few months ago performing. I see they've changed group members. The guy who is the lead singer now kinda sounds like the old lead singer.

Yes he was the lead singer.
Russell's a tenor, some of them tend to sound like women. He has a beautiful voice anyway.

I haven't gotten a clue why Russell doesn't tour with them. I'd like to know. I'm assuming he's tired of it.

Barry Gibb is the lead singer of The Bee Gees right? If he is, his voice does sound like a woman LOL. Eddie Kendricks & Curtis Mayfield don't sing like women to me. The dude who played Eddie Kendricks in The Temptations movie had me rollin because he wouldn't do nothin without Paul Williams LOL. He told their manager in one scene, i ain't getting on stage without Paul LOL. If Paul is outta the group, i'm leaving too hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Barry Gibb is indeed the lead singer of the Bee Gees.

I haven't seen the Temptations movie all the way thru, as I have only seen the second half. So, I haven't seen the scene you're talking about.

I remember D.L. Hughley imitated Curtis Mayfield when he hosted 'Comicview'. He said in a high-pitched voice, "Would somebody please check that light?" It's a f***ed up joke, but it still makes me laugh to this day.
I'm sorry Curtis fans, but that's funny to me.

LadyBee since you saw the second half of The Temptations movie, did you see the scene when David Ruffin played by Leon was trying to buy some drugs at a crackhouse? David said to the drug dealer, loan me some money. The drug dealer said do i look like a banker LOL. David said my autograph gotta be worth at least a grand. The drug dealer said yeah, who are you LOL. David said i'm David Ruffin of The Temptations. So since David didn't have any money, he gave the drug dealer two tickets to a concert. David said two tickets to tonight's concert. The drug dealer said are you gonna be performing. David said yeah. The drug dealer said these tickets say for Saturday. David said so. The drug dealer said but today is Sunday LOL. David said well i guess i won't be there LOL. I was rollin at another scene when David showed up at the Temptations concert & he wasn't supposed to be there. He came on stage & took the microphone from the dude who was playing Dennis Edwards. After he sang Ain't Too Proud To Beg, the group ran backstage after David. Otis said to David, have you lost your damn mind. I will whip your ass hahahahahahahahahahaha. So David got dragged outta the building by some security guards. David was dissin Dennis Edwards saying he ain't me, he ain't David Ruffin LOL. Without David Ruffin, ya'll ain't nothin LOL. Ya'll some fake ass Temps without me LOL.

I'm trying to remember the the drug dealer scene, but I can't right off.

But when David busted in on the Edwards-led scene was funny.
