Default I'm curious to know the story behind this show promoting "THE WALTONS" more than once

Was the Waltons someone's favorite show who produced Good Times or wrote for the show? I think the Waltons was mentioned 6 or 7 Times on Good Times and I fins it strange that another would get mentioned so many times.

Wasn't The Waltons a CBS show too? All I can guess is they were trying to promote CBS shows on other CBS shows.

I remember Florida saying to Michael, "if we don't pay these bills, we gonna be the Waltons".

Its funny, the odd time I would still watch a show or two. Corny as can be but it was supposed to be "heart warming" I guess.

Set during the depression, a poor family struggled, but were "rich with love" type of thing.

I think both you and Brian are right in your comparisons - like a white version of the Evans', but certainly not in a high crime/tough area of the projects (probably what Florida meant about "being mean") - not so much the family, but the locale.

And in case anyone cares, notice how BRADY BUNCH is referenced alot in other t.v. shows and movies. When the Brady Bunch is being used as a reference it usually is something like this: "Our family is not the Brady Bunch".
