Anyone know which was the first show to - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

still have the show going on when the end credits came on. When I was a kid it seemed like there were only 2 ways to end the show. They would either have music and a video sequence, or music and a series of pictures from the show.

It seems like most of the shows that are on now have additional footage when they have the end credits. I am curious to know who started this trend.

I'm not sure what series started it, but it's most likely because airtime has been cut down severly, by 3 or 4 minutes.

I can't believe this question has been asked because I was actually thinking about it yesterday! I'm an old fart so I also remember when shows ended with credits rolling across some stationary background. I'm thinking that Roseanne may have been the first because I remember that when when I saw it done back in the late 80s or early 90s, I recall thinking that this is the first time I've ever seen this. It's possible also that the show just used the idea more creatively than others so it was more noticeable to me. This is just a guess based on my memory.

"Roseanne" could definitely be it. Sometimes, though, they'd have the closing over a scene, then the scene would freeze and some music would play...

I know that "Kate & Allie" was the first to use the opening credits over a scene...

I think "Seinfeld" was the first one; followed by "Frasier". I'm not sure about this though.
