ATLANTA, Ga. (AP) - A 3-year-old boy staying with family friends after his mother gave birth to his new sister was killed by a hit-and-run driver Monday when he went outside by himself, police said.

Anthony Lloyd Oscar Littrean apparently unlocked the front door of the apartment where he was staying in suburban Norcross and slipped outside.

Authorities found his body along a nearby street after he was reported missing at 4:30 a.m., police said.

Jenive Littrean, 26, was given an early discharge from Northside Hospital, where she had given birth Sunday to her daughter, Ania.

As police acknowledged they had few leads and didn't know what kind of car hit the boy, Littrean made a tearful plea for the driver or any witnesses to step forward and tell what happened.

``I just have this picture in my mind - he was laying in the street - that somebody hit him like a dog leaving him to die,'' Littrean told The Associated Press. ``If it's something different, I want to know.''

Gwinnett County police spokesman Darren Moloney said it appears the friends who were taking care of Anthony did nothing wrong. Littrean said she harbors no ill will toward them.

Anthony had just celebrated his 3rd birthday Wednesday with a trip to Chuck E. Cheese's.

``One life is gone, but there's another life to celebrate,'' Littrean said, referring to her new baby. ``I can't put everything on hold. He would have told me, 'Don't cry, Mommy. It's going to be OK.'''

I have been to Chuck E Cheese, and security is way tight there, how did he wander out by himself? They always make sure you leave with who you came in with. Thats sad, the Chuck E Cheese curse strikes again

I'm thinking the same thing. There's a lot of negative Chuck E. Cheese stories lately. That poor kid and his family.
