In the episode "Too Old Blues", James told Florida to use the rent money to throw a party. She wound up buying decorations, ribs, chicken, potato chips, dip, records and champagne! I'm just curious of what their rent could possibly be.

Based on tonights episode where they are all donating money to pay the rent, i believe it is 100 a month. 110 at the most if i got all the numbers right they had 30 when James said all we need is 70 more. Hope that helps.

Probably about 100.00 a month. I think that was average for the projects at that time.

Here is what was always funny about the Evans Financial problems, the purpose of living in the projects is so you won;t have to struggle to pay rent because it's housing for low income families. So even with that, the Evans was still always struggling-lol It's people I know who live in the projects with nice cars and a pocket for a money because their rent is so low. So obviously james was making $1.25 an hour to always be struggling.

The families I know, including some of my relatives, who are driving the nice cars (caddies) with a pocket full of money, have no business living in the projects. Their priorities are backwards. There are families, even today who are legitimately equivelant to the Evans family. Some have said or tend to think that GT was not realistic, but IMO it was very realistic. There are people in the projects today who won't leave because they are afraid of change or their comfort zone being disrupted, not because the can't afford to. |

The show I watched last night where James had to go out and hustle on the pool table to make the rent said that the rent was $104.00. Don't know how they came up with that amount but at the end, James buddy Monty came over and said he had $104.00 for their rent money.
