Who else saw this movie with Valerie Bertinelli in it? I think it was from around '79 or '80. I saw it years ago as a kid, and I haven't seen it since. I think was a no-brainer comedy about a Benji type dog that was really a robot police dog? Wesley Eure, the brother from the 70's Land of the Lost dinosaur kids show was also in it.

video and the paperback novelization. The dog is cute, Valerie Bertinelli is cute (as always!), Red Buttons and Chuck McCann and Jim Backus provide some laughs, and Wesley Eure (later of LAND OF THE LOST) is there for the girls in the audience. Who could ask for more? |

I'm crazy enough that I would love to see the movie again. Just for the title alone.

Well, I know you would like to see anything with Valerie in it! She is quite a good actress ! She's been in a lot of things, a lot of Lifetime TV movies. Check around! OMG she even played a true life story of a mentally ill woman who went and shot up a grade school. It was SO out of character for Valerie, but she did a really good job! I mean WOW!!!! Playing a true story of a very mentally ill woman isn't that easy! Google it, I don't remember the name. It was like from the late 90's I'm thinking, on Lifetime TV!!!

Opus!! I researched and the movie is called Murder of Innocence! Valerie really showed he acting ability, but I admit I was disturbed because she wasn't ever associated before with playing a character like that!

I finally picked it up for a bank breaking $3.86. So we won't eat for a week, but I'm sure you all will say it's worth it.

I own it on DVD, it's a fun cheesy kids flick. Used to be one of my favorite movies when I was a kid, but I liked a lot of crap back then, heck, I lot a lot of crap now.

For a One Day at a Time note, Chuck McCann, one of the Beerbellys, is in it. For a sitcom note, Conrad Bain(Maude, Different Strokes) is her father, and Mr. Howell from G's Island pops up for a few minutes. |

Turns out the movie had some minor notoriety back in the day. From Wikipedia:
>>> A PG-rated version of C.H.O.M.P.S. was shown for a short time during the summer of 1979. The stricter rating was due to some salty language employed by a dog—not the title character. It was edited, with the canine profanity overdubbed, in order to receive a G-rating and released during the Christmas season. This version was released in the United States on December 21, 1979, opening in Los Angeles<<< I don't know if both versions were released for home consumption, but the version we got on Ebay was PG |
